where are you doing your rehearsal dinner?

I am looking for a place for the rehearsal dinner. Are you actually rehearsing or just doing the dinner? Also, someone suggested having a groom's cake at the rehearsal dinner. Who pays for this cake?

We are having ours at Danfords on the Sound in Port Jeff. We will not actually eb rehearding and I am buying a grooms cake for FH.

My rehearsal is at Irish Coffee Pub in East Islip, the rehearsal is a half hour before the rehearsal dinner. I'm thinking of a grooms cake but I'm trying to think of some fun and unique ideas for a cake.

My rehearsal is at the Harborside Restaurant. I am buying the grooms cake myself. It will be a pool table. FI loves to play pool!!! Here's a pic:

We are having at Mickey Felice's and I ordered a groom's cake from Swan Bakery.

Nan- We had one of BM showers at harborside..food was excellent!!

That's where I got engaged!! So I thought it was kinda nice to have the rehearsal there...it has meaning to us!! I love the food too!!!

Where is your wedding?? I know you have probably posted it..but I don't see it in your profile.

I am having my rehearsal dinner at Strike. I work there so I got a pretty good deal. I really wanted a relaxed very casual dinner, so we'll eat maybe ride the go karts and bowl a little. It should be fun.

Questions for you all--- Do I have to have a grooms cake? What is the purpose? How do you know what kind of cake design to get? FH hates pastries-- they don't excite him? Any other suggestions?

RD at Stony Brook Yacht Club. We are having a grooms cake in the form of an LSU flag (purple & gold - my FH's alma mata (or however you spell that!)). The bakery who normally caterers to the Yacht Club is doing it (for a little extra $$$ of course!) I am paying the extra for the cake even though FH's parents are paying for RD!
