after the wedding?? i know some of you have apartments already but is everyone planning on staying on LI???
We are planning on moving. next weekend we are going on a road trip to Nh and then Pa shortly after that. its just so expensive here!

We took a trip to PA to check out the market too. Very different from LI. I don't really have plans to leave LI but I'm definately keeping options open.

I owe my job 4 years for paying my tuition for school. I told FH for that time we need to live in suffolk, after that I'll go anywhere. I think he wants to move back to queens, possible Bayside.

I want to stay here on the island....FH has some of family in pa and is interested in living there.....his brother and his wife jsut moved down there and they are both making a lot more money and cost of living is still less than here....they live in elizabethtown, his brother travels to the schools in the area for his job (sales) and his SIL works in york......his other sister her husband have been looking for work down there in the education field....they both make good money on the island, but are making the move because of family and they have both been offered fairly decent pay compared to the cost of living being less. ....it depends on where you want to live and where you type of work you do. Their biggest problem with the move is their benefits....they have MUCH better retirement packages here than what the offer in PA. bigger cities/towns like york of harrisburg, hershey....there are plenty of places to live where the cost is not high and the school districts are good, but you may commute for 25-30 ms.....commute there is a straight road and barely any traffic for the most part......i don't want to move because my entire family is li.....his family is all over the country with a portion in pa so we will still have to travel to see his family and mine....YUGH For anyone in the nursing field, you are more likely going to make more money in pa than here.....I have yet to see someone who does not....DRASTIC difference...

Nursing salaries are pretty consistent where you go. For us the issue was FH who works in finance. One realtor said he could find work in New Jersey which is a half hour commute. For the time being we both love living in New York.

We'll probably be staying in North Jersey, right between my family (LI) and FH's family (Philly). We are in Jersey City now and I love it, but FH wants to eventually get a house and move to the suburbs.

Dallas Tx maybe.. because it's just too expensive to live in NY..

we're locked into a lease on our apartment in nyc. so after the wedding we'll live there for about a year while looking at houses to buy.

Who knows where we'll end up. I want to be out east (Setauket, Port Jeff, Sayville, Bellport, Sag Harbor, etc), but I know the commute would kill FH (his job is going to be in NYC).

We're going to look everywhere - Manhattan, Westchester, Nassau, and Suffolk...I'm sure it will all come down to $$$....

Oh, and the taxes on some of these houses?!?! RIDICULOUS.
