Our reception ends at 5:30 and I really don't want to go straight to a hotel and want to continue the celebration. I can't see going to a hotel and speending money we really don't have...but it is so traditional.
Is anyone staying somewhere other than a hotel or am I the only difficult one?

Re: Where are you staying
My OOT family if staying at my house so we are staying at the Four Point Sheraton in Plainview.
My reception ends at 5pm. So we are stopping home first, change, hang for a while, may go out for some drinks and go to Hotels. Our HM flight leaves at 8pm the next day.

Re: Where are you staying
We're staying at our hotel. We live in Jersey, so it's either that or mom & dad's ... I'm not so sure ANY of us want that
Hotels will usually give you a discounted rate if you block rooms there, and you don't have to stay in the bridal suite if you want to save $$$. Some even throw a free room in. You could start putting some money away each week now, like $20-$40, and by the time of your wedding you'll have more than enough for a nice room. You don't notice it as much as a $130 hit at one time. My FH does that for EVERYTHING! I tease him, but at the end of the day it really works out for us.

Re: Where are you staying
We're staying at the Plainview Marriott Residence Inn, where we're suggesting our guests to stay as well. And we're going to pay $$ to keep the bar open for awhile when we get back. Our wedding will end at 10, though... so we're keeping the bar open until about 1. They have a great arcade, game room, pool table, dart board, etc., so it will be a great 'wind down' time.

Re: Where are you staying
Our reception ended at 5:30 as well, but by the time we got out of there it was almost 7:30. We live in NJ and decided to spend our wedding night in our home. This way we were rushed to check out the next morning go back to NJ and then head to Newark Airport for our flight to Europe that evening.
It was so nice to be in our home our first night as man and wife.

Re: Where are you staying
We're staying at the Garden City Hotel, but it's only because we don't live in NY, and staying with my parents on our wedding night would be a little weird.
We were originally going to get married in Boston, and probably would've stayed in our house...I understand why you might feel that the hotel thing is traditional, but you'll have plenty of fun no matter where you stay.

Re: Where are you staying
I think we are staying at the Harrison House (Glen Cove mansion) its where our guests are staying. But they have a wait list for the suites (they only have 3) and wont tell us if we are getting one til a month before.... so i might stay somewhere else
