I need a new winter coat... I want a basic black pea coat, but something warm enough for the winter. Where can I find a nice warm one for not too much money? (Preferabley under $250). I looked in J.Crew, but the ones they had there were really thin. I need a heavy one.
Anyone? Thanks!

You can get the jcrew one insulated.

Re: Where can I find a good pea coat?
The past few years I've gotten my winter coats (not neccessarily pea coats) from Bloomingdale's. Pea coats always seem to be 'in', so I'm sure they'd have some this season.

hehe I bought my $150 pea coat for $3. hehe Not ebay.. it was Weathervane. When they went out of business they sold all their stuff for $3!!!
I bought a suade coat for my sister and a soft wool one for me, plus the pea coat. Best Deal ever.

Kim, good idea, but not worth the money. I have a J.Crew coat (not a pea coat, but similar), paid extra for insulation, and I still freeze my arse off!!!

Re: Where can I find a good pea coat?
I should have! Now I'm going to have to buy a cashmere sweater, or something that's warm but thin too since the coat is kinda form-fitting - I can't wear anything bulky under it

Re: Where can I find a good pea coat?
TJMaxx is having an outerwear sale going on now. There's also Burlington Coat Factory stores all over the Island...they usually have a good selection. You can also check Marshall's, Syms, and I am sure the department stores are stocked with coats right now.
I'm in the market for a new coat, too. I think it's going to be my Christmas present from my parents.

Re: Where can I find a good pea coat?
I went on a serious search and found good pea coats everywhere (unfortunately I'm looking for something different!).
I found them in that price range at:
Club Monaco Banana Rep. Victoria's Secret Ann Taylor Loft Housing Works Thrift Store (exc. place for designer duds cheap) J.Crew (agree with the above though, never like the quality for the price of their coats-and they just changed their return policy and suck to try to return anything) Nordstrom

Re: Where can I find a good pea coat?
I would say try the department stores. What about Lord and Taylor? They usually have nice coats at good prices...
I got that Marc Jacobs one I wanted from Bloomingdales this season. It prob won't keep me very warm, but it is sooooo pretty and different!!
I have other warmer coats for when it's really cold and I don't feel the need to make a fashion statement...

Believe it or not I got mine from Syms about 2 years ago. It's soo comfy and warm and I think I paid under $100.00 for it.

I got mine on line at an army/navy web site for $72. It is so heavy and really thick.
