I would go to a wholesale place like Costco or BJ's or even go into some place like Sleepy's. They always have a sale and if you buy a bed that they are discontinuing because they are coming out with a newer model, you can get it for a steal. We bought our Queen sized bed there and that was the case and only paid about $400.
FYI--Ikea is great for cheap furniture, but it doesn't last as long. Their beds are personally not of very good quality and you'll end up spending more money in the long-run replacing it.

how about sleepy's? also, i would advise against bob's discount furniture. there were cases of bed bugs in their couches, so i assume the mattresses may be infested as well.

Just an FYI, be careful when getting things off craigslist or any non-name brand mattress store. You never know if youll be buying a mattress PLUS bedbugs!!!

i dont know about mattresses but i can tell u i got my bed from Ikea way before i met my FH....and i put extra screws and bolts in the thing because it felt like it was going to collapse if you just sat on it. and within days it started to make noises that made it sound like it was getting alot more action on it then it was LOL!
for a box spring though, i have also heard about good deals at BJs!
