I know this thread is old, but....
Feb 12, 2005, On the balcony of the Met Opera House overlooking the fountain. Just the two of us out there after a matinee performance of the Marriage of Figaro. Nobody knew, not even our parents. He was totally himself the entire day.
We always joke with eachother how Valentines day is just a silly hallmark holiday, so of course my engagement radar happen to be non-existent that day (even though it was two days before). I was so oblivious that even while he was proposing, I had no idea until he said 'will you marry me?' Even then I had to ask him to repeat it!

We were back in Buffalo for a wedding (we met there freshman year of college) and he brought me to the campus near the lake and proposed.

At the Bryant park hotel in NYC in a room looking at the Empire State building, on morning after Valentines day 2004. We did a whole NYC weekend for Valentines day, complete with Limo, dinner at Tavern on the Green, museums & bar hopping! I had no clue it was coming.

It was his so called surprise 30th birthday party at Merlot....FH told his parents that he wanted to really surprise me so he asked them to ask me to help plan his surprise 30th party,,which not knowing it really was a 'surprise proposal party'for me!!! No one but my parents and his parents knew about it. All the guests really thought it was his surprise 30th party..So FH got me good!!

On a cruise that took us around the city(I think its called World Yacht), he did it on the deck after dinner. It was SUCH a perfect/ romantic moment to do it.

Cabo San Lucas, Mexico overlooking the Pacific Ocean at sunset..he set it up with the staff of the hotel and we were there for his company function and all 100+ people knew!! IT was a great way to start our vacation!!!
