I swallowed pork chop & i wasnt choking but i couldnt breathe right..still can't. had a throat xray, nothing in there but my esophagus is scratched & swollen from the food going down and scrapping my esophogus. i had 5 firemen & 4 paramedics in my kitchen, my kitchen floor is filthy from their boots..i thought i was chocking, i am scared to death..still

Were you home alone?
Eat soothing things for a few days. Jello or pudding or oatmeal. No spicy - will irritate throat. I'm sure the ER already told you that though

Jenn, glad to hear you are doing better. I went through something similar in Sept. I choked on a piece of apple at work but could not get air in or out. A coworker had to do the Heimlich Maneuver on me, which cleared it. I had swelling and voice changes for about 1 hour after. My doctor said I was fine. Funny thing is, feeding and swallowing disorders is my specialty and the how to help a choking victim sign is on the wall outside my room! I took me a while to eat confidently and I wouldn't eat alone for a while either!
