Where Did You All Go On Your Honeymoon?

I'm in charge of picking a place to go for my honeymoon :( UGGGH! I'm glad I'm in charge because I'm incredibly picky :D

Where did all you married ladies go? Where did you stay? And would you recommend it? What other tips do you have?

A little about what we are looking for: something not tooooo expensive (we have a wedding to pay for after all ;)), something with warm sandy beaches, some place I've never been before, perhaps an all inclusive, and something for FH to do when he gets bored of sleeping on the beach (which I never tire of but I'll go along with him lol).

We are looking at 2 weeks

This was hard for us too bc neither of us really care for the beach, well he HATES it and i can do it for an hour just to get a tan but i get bored easily and then i start moving around bc i cant lay still on the beach. So really find something that suits the both of you, at first we wanted to do tahiti but then realized it wasnt us lol, it looks AMAZING but we were looking for something else in our HM. We wanted nightlife, and no not clubs like partying all night, but places we can go out to dinner late and hang out there having drinks, going to a lounge or just walking around the streets at nights enjoying the sights. We also wanted activities, lots to see and do, but also at our own pace, we dont like following a schedule or doing group tours and stuff lol. So after ALOT of research we decided on Spain and Monaco which now i can say was exactly us and what we were looking for. Both we did see things but didnt spend all day sight seeing, we went to 1 attraction a day and the rest we lounged, had lunch and dinner at outside cafes, went shopping, slept late and enjoyed ourselves.

If you want beach and he wants activities, then maybe aruba, hawaii, puerto rico, costa rica. Those places you can have the best of both worlds. ALso alot of other islands but depends on what activities he wants.

BUt what islands have you been to? this way nobody recommends those since you want someplace new

We did 4 days in Punta Cana and a week in Jamaica. DH and I are both beach people and wanted to relax. We stayed at the RIU.

we went to Rivera Maya in Mexico, near Cancun but not Cancun. It was a wonderful resort, and we wanted to do lots of sight seeing and I was interested in visiting ruins. I had so much fun.

i'm not married but we did book our HM already.
we're doing 5 nights in negril jamaica at Couples all inclusive and then a cruise to puerta vallarta, cabo san lucas and mazaltan

We are just waiting for the November/December '09 airfares to come out before booking that part of the HM, but our hotels are all booked already.

I had the same issues last year when FH and I were deciding where to go for vacation. I love laying on the beach and just reading - he gets bored of that within an hour. I, however, am a slight workaholic and cannot do nothing for days at a time. I have a problem relaxing too much.

So last year we went to Hawaii for 16 days. Perfect spot! I had the beach, there was so much sightseeing and we never got bored. We are going back for our HM - this time for 24 days!

I don't think I would be able to do 2 weeks on one carribbean island.

Have you thought about Europe at all? I see that you're getting married at the end of August, which is a tough month in Europe because that's when they all go on vacation. But since you're going to be traveling mainly in September it shouldn't be a problem. I went to Italy in October and the weather was perfect. We toured all through Italy and then sat on the beach in Capri for a couple of days.

I'm sorry I didn't specify which Islands I've been to - that would be helpful no?

Dominican Repbulic (amazing! Got engaged there!)

Belize
Hawaii

I've always dreamed of Tahitti but it's too much money for us while we are paying for a wedding I suggested a 1 year anniversary get away there :D

We stayed at the RIU in Peurto Plata... amazing and fun... we'll definitely be back, just not for the HM. Great country!! Great Resort (even if it was hard for me to find things I liked to eat lol)

I have done that cruise!!! It was the best cruise EVER!!! Def do the whale watching in Puerta Vallarta... that was the most amazing experience ever!
And Cabo Wabo in Cabo ;) it's Sammy Haggar's bar it's a lot of fun too - great food, great staff... and you can stock up on awesome tequilla.... even though that particular day ruined tequilla for me forever!! LOL

We went to Hawaii...it's beautiful and you have the best of both worlds- beach and tropical islands and tons of stuff to do!!! You can hike Waimea Canyon and do sightseeing in Kuaui (helicopter rides, boat tours, walking tours!)- Kuaui is very lush and green like a rainforest. Maui is also beautiful- it's a cross between a city like Oahu and Kuaui - you can jetski, do a zipline, see the sun rise atop Mount Haleokula (sp), drive the Road to Hana, tons of stuff (also if you scrapbook you can't miss Island Paperie there....OMG scrapbooker's paradise ). Oahu is a lot like a city (not like what most people picture Hawaii to be!) but there's stuff to do there also...we hiked Black Diamond Mountain and went shopping at the International Market- we got great deals on gold there. Also it's perfect if you have two weeks because it's two days used up for traveling there and back- and when you get there you have traveled for so long, and it is so pretty, that you want to stay for a while. FM me if you want any other info!!!
P.S. We stayed at the Hyatt (would def recommend!) on all 3 islands....there's a deal you get where if you stay at the Hyatt for more than 5 days and on 2 different islands there you get breakfast for free and the food is yummy

how about Canada to Niagara Falls-you probably went there too, then again there's not much to do. Hhhhmmmmm how about Jamaica? I saw this resort where it had its restaurants in caves by the ocean, only thing was that I am very picky when it comes to food...so I picked Mexico for its spanish food too...and boy was it delicious!

DH and I are lay on the beach all day type people... we went to Sandals Grande Antigua for 10 days and absolutely loved it! Not saying there aren't any activities... you can go snorkeling, jet skiing, parasailing, they have a party boat... that's all just at the resort. But mostly we just lounged all day by the pool or the beach and kept the drinks comin'.

How about New Zealand or Australia? Definitely doable in 2 weeks - not all of Australia but a few cities. You can combine beach with sightseeing. Or South Africa - a safari and then head off to the beaches?

We are looking into
Aruba and Brazil
Costa Rica seems nice too... Bermuda... hmm

We can't do cruises... FH gets vertigo and sea sickness like crazy... we went to my home town in Oregon and he got sick just from the hills - even just looking at them from the valley..
It's a shame too cruises are so much fun!

Bermuda is amazing! But again, it's a really tiny island - I don't think you'd be able to find enough to do for 2 weeks!

Is your FH into golf? You can try the Ritz Carlton Reynolds Plantation. The spa is amazing and they have lots of outdoor activities. No beaches though, just a nice pool.
