I haven't yet, but I heard that Manhasset Town Hall is a good place to go because it isn't too crowded

Here is info on how to get the marriage license. It seems like you can go to any town clerk's office, and every town has a clerk. Just call ahead to be sure.

Re: Where did you go for your marriage license?

Octobergirl I don't think it makes a difference, it is still NY. The knot has a section on marriage license rules for NY. YOu can check it out. I don't think it should make a difference

Re: Where did you go for your marriage license?

You can go anywhere in NY (in the city I think it's $5.00 more)

Hempstead and Manhasset are the ones in Nassau. I work about 2 blocks away from the one in Manhasset. It's on Plandome Road on the right hand side.

anyone know what's needed for the license? I assume we'd have to bring our birth certificates - anything else?

Re: Where did you go for your marriage license?

We got our marriage license at the Oyster Bay Town Hall. We were in and out in less than 15 minutes. Both bride and groom must be present. As far as ID, we had our current drivers licenses and our passports. We called ahead because we were told we need our Birth certificates, but FH didn't have his. They ask you a couple of questions, and you'll need to know if your going to change your last name, where your parents were born, etc.

We got a goody bag too!!

Re: Where did you go for your marriage license?

I just went on Friday for our License.. We went to the Manhasset Town Hall.. it was not crowded..took about 20 minutes.. we just needed to show two forms of id..fill out a form, and the cost was $25.. and they give you a little goody bag with some samples like coffee, and glad tupperware, and coupons.. they don't really ask you any questions.. it was great! One more thing done!!! WOOHOOOO!!!

Re: Where did you go for your marriage license?

Do all Town Halls ask for two forms of ID? I thought as long as you have either a driver license or a passport that all you need.

Girls let me know

FYI

I just called the office in Smithtown. 631-260-7620. You can go to any town clerk for the license and can be married anywhere in New York State. It doesnt matter where you get it from. Its $25, and you need picture ID, and something with your SS# on it. Its valid for 60 days. Happy planning!

Re: FYI

aagh! I'm going tomorrow and now I don't know if I need a money order or not.

Guess I should play it save and get a MO for $25?

I'm assuming drivers license and SS card are acceptable forms of ID?
