Where did you research products before registering....

I am thinking way ahead here (I'm not preggo yet) but where does everyone research strollers, pack and plays, etc....

I do look at the reviews for the item I am looking at (at BRU website) but sometimes they are all so opposite of one another. I realize they are people's opinions but for one person to LOVE something and the next person to HATE it...who do I believe???

Then I tested out the ones that got the highest review and went from there. The only thing I would change is the swing I had for Emma... but its ok now because its been discontinued.

I didn't pay attention to Baby Bargains, because some great items according to Consumer Reports got low ratings because of the high price. I believe you get what you pay for in some instances.

My most valuable research tool was been there done that moms who have used the stuff and could help me know the differences and what to look for.

I agree with you.

I liked Baby Bargains for a reference - but don't think it was made with a NY mentality. I know my crib got a bad rating there and only because of price. But it does give you a few tidbits about what to look for in products from safetly and useful points of views.

I just started registering but so far I like talking to friends who are moms and hearing their opinions.

I guess I should further explain why I recommended the Baby Bargains book.

You asked where products were researched and that is what I used. Did I find many bargains? NO! So I agree with the previous two posters. I really didn't pay attention to price.
But I did take it with me while I shopped because it does give other ratings and points out some things I never would have, like on high chairs... the distance from the tray to the child is large in some, and closer in others. Same with seat height.

I also listened to all my BTDT moms, sometimes with a grain of salt too. My SIL hated her Peg Perego.. Said the wheels 'were all over the place' I don't know what that meant, I tried it out and I love it! SO everyone is different.

Just arm yourself with as much knowledge as you can and actually go test drive all the baby gear!
