it two months until the wedding and she doesn't have a dress. she refuses to go to a bridal salon and order one and anyway, it's too late to do that. she's been shopping in like bargain outlets and hasn't found anything. it's so annoying b/c i'm her daughter and she should really care about what she's wearing at my wedding.
we went shopping today and she kept going into stores that looked like strippers shop there! and when they asked her what the dress was for she would say 'oh it's for someones wedding who is close to me'. i was right there!! why couldn't she say that it was for my wedding?? she KNOWS that it's totally not appropriate to be shopping in those stores for a MOB dress and she's embarrassed. so then why can't she buy a dress in like a department store or something???
where did your moms buy their dresses other than bridal salons??? please help

Re: where did your moms buy their dresses???
My mother was insistant that she buy her dress online where it was cheaper (she lives in Florida, so we couldn't shop together). So she found out two weeks ago that they wouldn't have it to her in time. When she was here last week for a visit, I kidnapped her and took her to Davids Bridal. She didn't like any of the 'Mother of the Bride' dresses, but ended up buying a bridesmaids dress right off the rack from their $99 sale.

We found my Mom's dress at Estelle's. She bought it off the rack. The price was great & it's the perfect dress for her.

Re: where did your moms buy their dresses???
I can understand the stress you are going thru. My FMIL still doesn't have a dress. However, I wouldn't take your mom not saying the dress is for her daughter's wedding too personally. My mom stopped doing that after a while b/c she found that as soon as she said 'mother of the bride' the stores would push dresses on her that she did not want. She's simple in her style and she just learned to start saying the same thing you mom said 'someone getting married who is close to me'. In the end though, she ended up getting her BEAUTIFUL dress from Macys! She had more luck in places like that or Lord and Taylor or Bloomies than any other bridal botique. Also, A co-worker of mine has a son who just got married and she got her dress at Estelles and she looked fantastic! So I would recommend the department stores. They have an incredible and beautiful selection of dresses for reasonable prices with half the hassle of a botique! Good luck!

Re: where did your moms buy their dresses???
i went to Estelles yesterday with fh's mom and she found a gorgeous scott mcklintock dress for about $200. It took us a while to find the perfect dress because a lot of their dresses are geared more for prom and sweet 16s I think, but her dress is absolutely perfect for a mother of the groom

My mom didn't get her dress from a bridal salon either..she actually got it from the chadwicks.com catalogue... its cute, but very simple which is totally perfect for our wedding because it won't be very formal... there's a pic in my album

Re: where did your moms buy their dresses???
My mom is being super picky. We've been to the few dress boutiques in Woodbury Commons in Woodbury. We went to PR Scilla in Huntington and some other small place on Jericho in E. Northport. This week she's going to try Eva in Sayville. And then also dept. stores.

My mom bought hers online. My stepmom bought hers at Macy's Bridal in Manhasset. My FMIL bought hers off the rack at Macy's.
HTH! It's so hard for Moms to find something they feel beautiful in, that is also comfortable, IMO. GL!!

Re: where did your moms buy their dresses???
My mom got hers at Metamorphosis in St James.. but I think they would have to order it.. unless the sample fit her I guess. She should try Estelles, or Lord & Taylor... they have a pretty good dress department. One of my friend's mom's got hers at Helen's Bridal in commack off the rack... Good luck!

Re: where did your moms buy their dresses???
FMIL actually bought her dress today...She bought it from a store I LOVE and bought dresses from before and even bought my e-party dress from there...we went to two stores on austin street in forest hills, they were chez moi and OZ boutique and she bought it from OZ boutique. They have GORGEOUS dresses. Hold on im gonna copy some of the styles they have
but here go to this site, they have ALOT of jovani dresses that are stunning, and on the site they have a mother of the bride section...btw these stores are not bridal stores
THIS ONE IS STUNNING IN PERSON!!! this was the other dress FMIL was deciding between, but in a cafe color, it was light a taupe/champagne type color-GORGEOUS
this is the first she tried on-GORGEOUS dress
