where do people get the nerve????

where do people get the nerve????

Out of only 12 RSVPs 2 of them wrote 'and guest' on the response card & they weren't invited with one because we didn't have enough room.
What do I do? They are both my FH's cousins so he said he will talk to them.
But really, how do people have the nerve to do this? I would never.
I'm already worring that the room will be too small they say it fits 230 but when I saw it set up for 200 it looked tight already. We had to invite 238 but are hoping for around 200.

I think this has happened to a lot of brides here (including me). I still can't figure out a good reason for why someone would do that, or how they would even have the nerve to do it

people say to expect 20% no's so you might be righht at 200! don't freak out as of yet see, how it goes as you get closer to the response due date!

I'm so sorry!! I worry about this too more and more after hearing about this kind of things from brides. Where do people get off thinking that you have random disposable income to essentially treat their significant other/homie/who knows to a night out!. If they are on FH's side then he should call and tell them sorry.

I don't know why people think they have the right to invite guests to someone else's wedding, but it definitely happens. It is rude of them to do that, but it is not rude of you to call them and tell them that unfortunately they weren't invited with a guest and you just don't have the room to accomodate them.

I am SOOO surprised that this has not happened to me yet. But then again I am still waiting on 1/2 of my rsvps

I wouldn't have the balls to do that...whether it was family or friends...That's crazy

I think some people just expect to be invited without a date and consider it rude of you to be invited without one so they decide to be rude back and invite their own date. Clearly these people aren't planning a wedding and don't know the proper etiquette

That happened to me at my e-party, it's so darn RUDE!!! If you are getting close to capacity or over what you wanted to spend, tell them I'm sorry I don't have the room for more bodies. If you can't make it b/c of that I'll understand.
Where do these types get the b's...

Re: where do people get the nerve????

We were just having this discussion the other day as i was talking to a married friend about my guest list, and she said quite a few people did this too.. and on top of it.. some of them were late R.S.V.Ps.. i just can't imagine. Unless people are in a serious to semi-serious relationship i didn't invite them with a guest cause we just can't afford to.. and most people i've talked to understand why i wouldn't want to pay for someone's 'random' date to be at my wedding.. i just don't get where these people think it's ok to invite yourself with someone. I'd def. have FH talk to them, it's extremely rude.. and there is no reason you should have to work extra people into your seating when there is hardly enough room for the people you want there!!!

( sorry these things really annoy me..lol)

That is very rude. Just remember when they get married someday. To pay them back No really. Have FH call. If they get mad and choose not to attend without a date. Good. Then you are that much closer to 200.

I would lose it if people did this to me! You did the right thing by inviting those in a relationship with a guest and those not, without....if people can't understand that they well screw them!

Re: where do people get the nerve????

Girl be glad it was two people. My dad is one of ten and FIVE of them did that, only they did not invite just one guest..they invited either two or three so I ended up with about 15 people instead of 5..... UH HUH....

Since ym dad didnt want to call, guess who had to do the dirty work and endure guilt trips and drama that ended when I politely but FIRMLY (cause the next step would have been my foot up their @$$) I told them that since FH and I are paying for the wedding, we had to make a lot of cuts including our clsoe friends and family. Most took it ok but they are just tacky-every family has at least one. I happen to have 9!

What was funny was they were inviting cousins whose weddings I AHD NOT BEEN INVITED TO!!!! AND the FH and I were together when they all got married. They just see it as a big party like a GA bbq -rolls eyes- Cant expect much especlally because my mom told me when she and ym dad tied the knot 30 years ago, she got, get this...

FIVE DOLLARS from each of them to cover their plate AND their dates! ><....

Let FH handle it if he is willing to but definetly set your foot down or it will have a dominoe effect.

Re: where do people get the nerve????

I actually sat down with a good friend of mine tonight and told her that she can't bring a date to the wedding. She doesn't have a serious bf and I dont want her bringing some guy she meets at a bar just to have someone there. I didn't want to have that problem with her adding someone on to the rsvp so I decided to tell her myself first.

I cant believe someone would actually write that!!! Some people are soo rude!!!

Re: where do people get the nerve????

This really gets me worried!! I seriously believe that some people are not aware of wedding etiquette and others just don't give a damn....I'm going to have 2 really have a list with me...well not with me but the wedding coordinator...b/c I refuse 2 have 2 get shady with folks on my wedding day!!!

Wow! I would never do that!! I think its just so rude and to actually right it in on the card!!!! And the worst part of it is that it's family!!!

Re: where do people get the nerve????

This more common than you think. My friend just got married and she had people add up to 4 guests on the RSVP card!!! She just called them and said she didn't indicate 'guest' on the invitation because of lack of space. They can't get mad at that.... or they can and then you just not worry about it. People really do have no idea what extra guests mean to the bride and groom!!!
