The De Young Museum and the Academy of Sciences. They have Thursday night (I think) nights at the Academy of Sciences if you buy a ticket- there is a bar and it is all younger people. Pretty cool. I was there in June and had a great time.

We were also able to hit a Giants game.

Alcatraz is pretty interesting.

If you head across the Golden Gate Bridge, Sausalito is adorable.

I lived in San Francisco for 2 years. I'd recommend going to the following places, and be sure to rent a car. I can give you places that you can park that are affordable in the city.

Alcatraz
Mission District for Mexican food
North Beach for the ambiance and cafes
Baker Beach and Golden Gate bridge
Haight Ashbury for some interesting San Francisco history
Asian Art Mueseum
Golden Gate Park

I'd skip Union Square and Fisherman's Wharf. Both are very touristy and extremely expensive. You can find better restaurants and things to do in the other neighborhoods.

Drive to Napa (crush is going on right now and it's a great time to be there). It's about an hour drive from San Francisco through the country and it's beautiful.

By the way, pack a few sweaters and long pants, as it's always cold in SF any time of year. It's in the 50's-60's right now and it's always very windy.

I'd defintely make time to go to Napa for crush, at the very least. Alcatraz is still a must-do, the rest you can take or leave, to be honest.
