Are there any ski resorts that are easy to get to from LI. I'm not looking for anything too nice, just a place to see snow!
Also is December too early for snow?

Mountain Creek in new jersey. My brother goes snow boarding there all the time. Its easy to get to and not to far away. Here is there website. They make snow if there is none. My brother went 2 weeks ago.
Mountain Creek, NJ -- it's only about a 2 hour drive from Long Island. Super easy and not expensive. Windham, NY is also good -- about 4 hours from LI. If you're beginner, I'd stay away from Hunter (which is about half an hour from Windham) which is trickier.
I don't think anyone's slopes are open yet.... I doubt enough snow has been made. I'd check and see in another week or two.

There is always hunter... but the snow is crappy there. VT is the best but far.

Thanks you guys Mountain Creek looks great and they will be open next week.
For $89 I'm going renting equpiment and learning to ski for the day!

i know for a fact hunter n windham have snow... dont be discouraged by hunter... its not bad at all... i first learned there and its where ive gone the most!

I was at Windham 2 weeks ago and only 3 trails were open and everything was ice...
Platekill, which is a bit closer, is a nice and easy mountain. It's cheap, too!

but also poconos, its not far at all. DH and I drive there alot and usually takes us about 1.5 hours to get to. We always leave at night and never hit traffic

the triple play cars are a great deal! FH has the season pass but gets me that card since I do go as often
