Looking at egem's BEAUTIFUL post about taking pieces of her moms dress and making a veil with it, I wanted to ask all you girls..
Where is your mom's wedding dress right now?
My mom bought her wedding dress off the rack in 1975-I think she spent like 200 bucks on it. Anyway, you know what she did with her dress afterwards?? A few months later she cut the bottom so it was more of a mini dress, and went to Studio 54 as a bride on Halloween. The dress and veil got trashed during a wild night out and I think she ended up just throwing it all away in the garbage the next morning.
How hilarious is that?

Re: Where is mom's wedding dress?
My moms was ridiculous and she had that veil that has like a HAT underneath it??? In her defense, it was 1970. Shes also 4'11 so her dress would have been up to my knee, lol
But its preserved in the box in the storage room...

My mom's dress is in my basement...it is so damaged from age and not being stored properly though that I think I am just going to cut a piece, wash it as best as I can, and have it sewn into my dress.

my moms is in a ball in a box in their garage it's so yellowed i can't even do anything with it i really wanted to have a veil made from some of it but i really think it's that gone that it wouldn't be worth the $ to try to salvage it

Re: Where is mom's wedding dress?
My mom actually borrowed her dress as she got married in Morocco. I wish it was hers and that she had it so I too could use some part of it in my wedding. I definitely could not wear it as she was A LOT skinnier then I am!

You know, I was thinking the same thing but then my mother said to me that I should save it and have my childs baptismal outfits made from it (She of course would make them since shes oh so good with those things) and if a girl, her first holy communion dress...
I think I really like that idea...

Re: Where is mom's wedding dress?
My mom also bought hers off the rack and she had it for quite a while after... I remember getting dressed up in it when I was younger but she threw it out a few years ago. She never had it preserved so it was really yellow.

Re: Where is mom's wedding dress?
My mom's dress turned yellow because it was made for her so she had to throw it away

Re: Where is mom's wedding dress?
She gave it away at a garage sale a few years ago. Im pretty sure it was something that a young girl came specifically looking for a wedding dress or prom dress to wear to her wedding and my mom gave it to her.. wish i would have had some of it to make a veil out of.. but im glad someone got some use out of it. Im planning on keeping mine and making a christening outfit and I would love to make a lovely crib set (such as pillow case and blankies) (for show of course) - not for the baby to sleep with
