I believe what you're looking for is on Madison Avenue in the 70's. That's where many of the big designers are now (Vera Wang, Clea Colett, etc.) and where many bridal accessory stores are. Also, Michael's consignment is there. I didn't end up getting my dress there-but they had Vera Wang, Wearkstatt, etc. all at about 30% of the original cost.

RK Bridal is in the garment district. There, you can find a lot of wholesale stores selling fabric and some premade items (flower girl dresses etc.).

But, don't limit your search to these areas. There are some amazing shops in the East Village (7th, 8th, and 9th streets between 1st and 4th). There are veil shops, shoe stores and designers as well as a great bridal shop called The Gown Company, which has both samples for sale as well as new designer gowns. The lower East side also has great seamstresses if you want to have gowns made.

Also, Soho has some big designers and great shoe/lingerie/jewelry stores. Reva Mivasagar and Jane Wilson-Marquis have shops there. The prices in this area are designer prices, I'm not sure what you're looking for.

There is a bridal building at I believe 1385 Broadway in the Fashion district. Personally I didn't have any luck there and didn't think it was worth going to.
On the other hand, if you are coming to the city, I would suggest going to RK Bridal as they had a HUGE selection! I would not suggest going there on a Saturday though. It gets really crowded and their customer service suffers because of it. Good Luck!
