Where should I look for a gown?
Any suggestions on where I should look for my gown on LI. I really dont want to spend a fortune on my dress (no offense to those who did - I just feel like this is one corner I would like to cut) but would love a place w/ a decent selection to chose from since this is my first time looking. We are def. going to RK bridal but next weekend it will be easier for us to look on the Island. Any suggestions?

Re: Where should I look for a gown?
I loved RKBridal's selection- they had dresses I couldn't find anywhere- here or CA to try on. Sorry I live out of town so that's the only place I went.

Re: Where should I look for a gown?
I only started dress hunting. So far the only place I have been to was Bridal Reflections. I called to make an appt with the Bridal Garden in Bethpage and they said they mostly have dresses for 500-1000 (they also said they carry many of the major designers like Angelo and Jasmine, etc). My friend got her dress (550) at Cathy's in Lindenhurst. I don't know how large of a selection they have but it's worth a shot.

Re: Where should I look for a gown?
I've been to 'Wedding Center' in Commack, 'Helens' in Commack and 'Adriennes' in Islip. They all have dresses in the lower end of $.Adriennes had a good selection.
I haven't found the 'one' yet so I'll be checking in on your post to see where else I should go.
I have Moonlight Couture on my list so far.

Re: Where should I look for a gown?
You should venture out of LI, check out the Bridal building in NYC, 38th and Broadway, they have a few floors with different gown vendors and you can get a reasonably priced dress, I bought mine for $300. I think the range is anywhere from $300-1000.

Shops to try..
Sometimes you can luck out and find some awesome deals at the most unlikely of places! I went to My Daughters Wedding in Great Neck, where I tried on some beautiful (but pricey $1,500+) gowns. After I tried those on, I asked about any Samples they might have had for sale and found 3 that were great for under $500. They were 'designer' gowns but because they had been tried on (but still in perfect condition) before were much much cheaper. You would probably have to dry clean, but it might be worth it.The Wedding Center in Commack has a LOT of dresses to chose from in a variety of prices, but it seems like their alterations are sketchy at best.
I'm sorry i can't give better names, but sometimes you can find THE DRESS in the most unlikely of places! GOOD LUCK!

Re: Where should I look for a gown?
if you decide to shop outside of long island, i would definitely go to kleinfelds! even if you don't end up buying there, the selection is worth the trip, imo.

I went to a lot of bridal boutiques and didn't like the service and prices. I went to David's bridal's for BM dresses and eneded up buying my dress there. I like it because they have ALL sizes, they won't give you a size 14 if you are size 4.
I had the worst experience in bridal reflections and macy's, the dresses were BIG and dirty!!!

Re: Where should I look for a gown?
I did not want to spend a lot either. I went to David's but nothing really wowed me. I looked up online who carried Alfred Angelo, because the prices were listed in the Bridal magazines and were in my range. I got mine from Lynbrook Bridal Center on Sunrise Highway. It was $449 before alterations. They ordered just the right size for me, and so far I have had good experiences there (had the first fitting a few weeks ago)If you want to check out the Alfred Angelo website, www.alfredangelo.com, I think they list all the stores that sell their dresses and pictures of the styles are on there.

I agree. Burton's is great. I ordered my dress there and got the best price. I also ordered my BM dresses there and got a discount of 20% off because I ordered my dress there.

Re: Where should I look for a gown?
I agree also that you should check out burton's in melville. I also really liked Lillettes in baldwin. Lillettes prices ranged from 600-2000 but they are very nice and they have a large selection. It may give you more of an idea of what you are looking for.

I got my dress there- .
Mine is Jasmine it was 5 something, they have a lot for a small store.
RK has more designers.
It depends on the type of dress you are looking for.
I suggest looking through magazines & if there a few designers you like, look at the list of stores that carry them & then ask us for opinions on those stores if you want.

Re: Where should I look for a gown?
I would never reccomend Burton's. I am having a bad experience at this point, 17 days to go! 'You get what you pay for' if my motto with them! Cheap dresses, cheap service!!! Bad BM experience, bad wedding dress experience, over and over again!!Just my experience!!
