Where should I register? Or, not register if someone had a bad experience?

Where should I register? Or, not register if someone had a bad experience?

I am wondering where to register. My intial thoughts are Fortunoffs and Kohls or Target. Where has everyone else registered and what were your experiences?

Also, I hear some places give you a discount off items that don't get purchased for you. I'd love to hear about that kinda stuff too.

Thanks a bunch.

I registered at Fortunoff and Target. There is a Target everywhere. And this way it gives my guest all different price ranges!

ETA: Ive heard not so nice things about Macys.
My neighbor had a problem with Target!

we registered at Target (among other places) and EVERY SINGLE ITEM we registered for is only available in-store. We are actually thinking of getting rid of it before my shower.

So far I've had no problems with Fortunoff, C&B or Pottery Barn.

Also cancelled a registry with cooking.com because people ordered stuff & it never came off the registry. they insisted the stuff was not ordered thru the registry but it was.

Crate and Barrel
Fortunoff's

Everyone can either order online or just call the store...

Someone I know is registering at Sear's for appliances...

When did you register? Most of the time when it says available in store its because thew are discontinud. You might want to update it. I have to upddate both of mine 2.

I registered at Fortunoff's and Berta 67 (a local store by my house). I know that Fortuoff's allows you to buy what is left on your registery up to a year after your wedding date for a 10% discount.

DO NOT DO TARGET....their return policy stinks!!!

Do Bed Bath and Beyond...your registry serves as your receipt and then you can return for cash if you want to.

I'm having a decent experience with MAcy's as well.

I am registered at Fortunoff's and Linens n Things. I've been pretty happ with both except that Fortunoff's had a problem and let 2 people on buy the same thing off my registry...when I looked at my registry online it said 2 had been purchased...so the knew and didn't say anything about it.

Anyway, when I brought the one product back they were only going to give me the sale price since I didn't have the receipt but I arugued that it was their screw-up and to look back at my registry and see what the price was the day it was bought....the manager was really nice and did that for me and all is now well.

I only registered at Fortunoff. I love that store. The sales people were very helpful. As mentioned before, you get a one day chance to purchase anything on your register that wasn't bought for 10% off. You will also get 10% off your wedding bands if you register there. They also gave me a voucher for a 1 day free trial bridal makeup application at the Maximus Spa/salons. I then got an American Express $100 Travel certificate, as well as a 10% discount off the purchase of your attendants' gifts(for jewelry). People can order on-line and they also have free gift wrap.

I'm wacko, I plan to register at three places:

Fortunoff
Bed Bath and Beyond
Macys

I've heard great things about Fortunoff, I know BBB gives you cash back (so does Bloomies I hear...) and Macys I figured is an easy staple. EVERYONE has a Macys near them and it's middle of the road in terms of what people can afford.

I ordered a gift online for someone's shower via Macys (Wedding Channel) and I was pleased, so I'll give it a shot.

I actually plan to register on MLK Day coming up. I figured it's so hard to get time off, I'll take advantage! Might see some of you ladies there!

We registered at Fortunoff and Bed, Bath and Beyond.

We're registered at Macy's and Crate & Barrel. Macy's gives you a 10% coupon after your wedding for you to purchase stuff that were not bought. The coupon expires 60 days after your wedding date. We had no problems with Macy's. Crate & Barrel does not give coupons or have registry completion program. We also did not have any problems with C&B. Both stores have scanners. Crate & Barrel has a computer in their stores where you can delete, add or update your own registry in their store as well as on their website. Macy's you can update, add, or delete items from their web site and you'll need to see a Macy's bridal registry sales person to add, delete or update your info rather than doing by yourself.

However, I hear a lot of horror stories with Target registries from other brides.

To each their own. I suggest to register at least 2 stores with different price ranges that your guests can afford and the stores are nationwide where it can be accessible in your guests' home state or city.

We did Macy's and Bed Bath and Beyond, but if I could do it again I wouldn't do Macy's!!! We had lots of problems, and I have heard bad things from lots of people. Unfortuantely it was all after we had already registered and received lots of stuff so we can't cancel it. Oh, well. Hopefully it will be okay from now on.

We did Fortunoff and Williams Sonoma. If you're really into cooking why not register at Williams Sonoma? They have wonderful cookware, linens, appliances, bed/bath, plus fun & unusual things you don't find everywhere else! What's nice about them is that I never even went into the store, I did all my registering online, just point, click, & it's on your registry, you can change it whenever you want! www.williamssonoma.com
HAVE FUN!!! :)
