Where should I register? Or, not register if someone had a bad experience?

Original post by KarenB

I am wondering where to register. My intial thoughts are Fortunoffs and Kohls or Target. Where has everyone else registered and what were your experiences?

Also, I hear some places give you a discount off items that don't get purchased for you. I'd love to hear about that kinda stuff too.

Thanks a bunch.

Fortunoff & BBB, and I've had a great experience with both!

I am registered at Fortunoff and BBB and unfortunately - I have had numerous problems with both with messing things up and not taking things off my registry that people have purchased!!

Whats the deal w/ Target and thier return policy? I was planning on registering there...FH and I love Target! We were talking about how fun it would be to run around with that gun...just having a fun time scanning everything we want!

I registered at Target. Have no problems so far. Both FH and I love that store as well and we registered for towels small appliances pots and that kind of stuff at targe.t crystal china flatwear and stuff like that we did fortunoff.

However my neighbor registered at Target She got three (yup THREE) ironing boards. She went back to return two and they told her they wouldnt take them back. She said ya but they are on my registry and I got three. They said you have to wait 90 days after the wedding to return anything off the registry ???????? She called Asa Aarrons from channel 4 and everything they didnt give in. I registered for in Feb. of 2002. My wedding isnt till June of 2004. If I got duplicates (which I didnt so far) I have to wait 90 days after my wedding to return anything and then you will tell me that its been discountinued and the most I can get back is 1.00.

I dont care though I love target. And there is a Target everywhere for all of My out of towners and im keeping it. O well.

Uh-oh, I'm registerd at both also.

Well, I know BB will take stuff back, not sure about Fortunoff.
From waht I her that happens to almost anybody, no matter where you register. I'd say jsut find out the return policy first.

ETA: Those of you who got perks from Fortunoff, did you register in teh store or online?
I regisitered in the store at BBB, but I am just registering on line at Fortunoff.

Well isn't the piont of a registry that when someone buys something off it, It will not show up when the next person looks at it...kinda like an amazon.com wish list?

I think you should register and do it were you like to shop. Or where they have things that you think you would like. Everyone has a horror story about every store. I found this out with another post like this one. I registered at Macy's and Williams-Sonoma. Great experiences at both. I have so many things from my Macy's registry and no one has had any problems so far. Good Luck!!

this might sound crazy, but did anyone ever register at Home Depot or someplace where they have tools? I'm thinking that might be good since we're planning on buying a house before the wedding.

definatly fortunoffs and macys. we found bloomingdales service and salespeople not so helpful. we also like william sonoma

we need to do this soon too. we're thinking about a place that sells more electronic appliances and such because we already have a lot of kitchen supplies.

We registered at Fortunoffs, Bed bath and beyond and Macy's (FH loves to walk around with the gun). Just be careful what you register where. My china setting is 59.99 in Fortunoff with a free soup bowl it is 69.99 in Macy's Nothing free.

We found that Fortunoff's everyday prices are cheaper than Macys. The only way you get a good deal there is with their one day sales and coupons but I honestly dont have the time and the energy to be hopping around when they have a sale.

Also Fortunoff notifys you Via email when one of your items gets discontinued incase you either want to buy it yourself or replace it on the registery.
