Where to buy BM dresses and a dilemma - HELP

Where to buy BM dresses and a dilemma - HELP

To start - I'd like recommendations on where to shop for Bridesmaids dresses in Nassau County! THanks!

OK now here's the problem (if you even want to call it that). I only have 2 bridesmaids.

One is the perfect size 2 and looks great in everything! She has a few weddings after mine so I suggested going with a black dress that she would feel comfortable wearing again. She loved one with a halter top and straight skirt or one of the strapless tealength dresses.

The other girl is not heavy by any means but more like a size 10-12 and she's says she's not toned and is very self conscious (her words not mine!!). She wants to wear sleeves and an A-line skirt/dress.

Will this look ridiculous if I do them in totally different styles, but the same color, material and designer. I don't want either to feel uncomfortable or pick a dress that's not flattering, but I don't want it to look 'sloppy' either. What do you think?

Blanches in East Rockaway or we had a great experience at Elmont Bridal and they gave us 15% off the dress because we had 5 or more BM's

I just don't want sleeves - it's just not my taste. Is it rude to ask her to wear something other than that even though she won't be comfortable.

well, i guess it's a matter of which is worse: your distaste for anything with sleeves or her level of discomfort wearing a sleeveless dress.
Honestly, I would just get a shawl or wrap to go with the dress so she can cover her arms. After a couple drinks, she won't even be thinking of her arms.
But if she is really THAT uncomfortable, I don't see anything wrong with letting her wear the same color in a similar style. maybe cap sleeves or something? I think DaVinci Bridals has a mix-and-match line and so does David's Bridal

Well I'd really prefer them to wear the same thing since there's only 2 of them. I just have feeling neither are going to be happy!

I just ordered mine from Bridal Garden in Bethpage. They have a great selection and good prices. They are reputable.

P.S You have FM!

I think you need to stick to you guns and get the dress that YOU want. Maybe you could find a dress that you still like - but is complimentary both of them - not just the size 2. I agree that with only 2 of them - you want them to wear the same thing!

I agree...since the larger girl...isn't even that big..they can wear the same dress style. And since you have only 2 i think it would look much better

I think the girls should be in the same style. It may mean more work for you to tryo to find something they both like, but their happiness and comfort will be worth it in the end. Like someone else mentioned, you could always get a wrap for the girls so their arms don't show. As far as stores go, RK Bridal in the city has a huge selection, in fact it's almost overwhelming, but you're sure to find something there.

I have 5 bm's and I am picking the designer and a color. (Probably David's Bridal or Alfred Angelo) My BM's are picking their dress style.

Against popular opinion (please don't hate me I love you guys) I believe that grown women should not wear the same dress to an event at the same time. BM or not. That aside women have very different body types and I think that we look best when we are comfortable in what we are wearing.

How about using the same dress that comes with a wrap? That way the self concisous (sp??) girl can cover up if she wants.

This is what my BM are wearing. Giving the ones who what to cover up the option.

See the thing is , it is your wedding, and they should wear what you want.

I am self consciouos about my arms too, but my SIL got a dress that is spaghetti straps, I have two choices wear the dress, or back out of the BP. I chose to wear the dress.

Your happiness, and achieving the look that you want for your wedding is more important. JMHO.

yeah, my MOH is on abut sleeves, but it is hard to find good ones, so my FH told me jsut to pick the dress, so I'm going to RK by myself. ( actually he told me to tell the MOH the BM loves it & vice versa)

Keep in mind she's not a 2, but don't let her insecurities dictate your wedding.

I'm a short, busty 12, and there are only a few styles I won't even consider. It bugs me when smaller people are even pickier, but everyone has their issues.

I am in the same sititution. 2 Bridemaids and my sister won't wear anything with out sleeves and it is very difficult finding anything attractive but I want her to be comfie and not self conscience the whole day. My FSIL is the other and she wants to wear sleevless and that is fine with me too. My plan is to have my sister pick her gown first since it is difficult with the sleeves and then have FSIL pick a dress from the same designer. And if they don't look perfect next to each other that is fine too at least they are comfie.
