where to find a dress!? can't find what i'm looking for!

I'm not having much luck finding a bridal gown and was hoping for some suggestions on where to shop...

I'm looking for a slim a-line/modified a-line/fit and flare/trumpet style in satin/silk or anything in that family with just enough sparkle in bling or beading to feel special but not overdone and just can't find it!!

I'm petite - 5'0 - and hourglass wearing a size 8 currently - hoping to be 4/6 for the wedding. I just can't find stores that are carrying a style that works for my body and meets what I'm looking for. I'm going for an old hollywood glamour sort of feel with a classic formal shape that hugs my figure in the right places but flares out to some extent (high enough for my height but not so high/big in true a-line style) suitable and with enough sparkle suitable for a black tie affair. Budget is flexible but I'd like to keep it below 5k (up to 4k is where I'm most comfortable considering alterations and accessories), although if you know of a designer for more than 5k I'm open, even if only for inspiration.

ANY suggestions on where to shop or designers to look into would be MUCH appreciated!!! I'm getting very stressed and concerned with only 8 months to go!

look in my albums. maybe my dress will work for you? its casablanca 2072. it has everything your describing except its lace. i got it at pradise bridal in patchogue although i know that bridal suite in centereach and the wedding center have it as well.

I have the same build as you and wanted the same type of dress as you (old hollywood glamour feel as well) and had the same issues. I found more of a fitted mermaid style worked best for me. Try Maggie Sotterro, she's under 5k and has dresses that will match your needs. I wound up choosing a Pnina dress under 5k from Kleinfelds. She's carried in a ton of stores, Paradise Bridal had a large selection.

Did you ever look into getting it custom made? With you budget you can get exactly what you want

Have you tried anything on yet? I'm asking only because you have several different cuts listed. Which cut do you like best on? I am 4'11 with a tiny waist and a bubble butt. I found that trumpets did not work for me at all. They made me look too squat. I looked best in fit and flare and A-lines. Also, what materials have you tried on? Fit and materials look so different on our bodies than on the rack.

I went to Paradise too! Take a look at Allure 8704...beautiful beading but not an explosion of sparkles! It's fitted to the hip then loosens at the thigh.

If you're willing to go into Manhattan, I had a great experience at RK Bridal. They have a TON of dresses and if you go when they just open, you'll have all the time and options you need. Plus they have excellent pricing. It's more of a warehouse than a boutique, but if you can get over that, the dress options are endless.

Ditto! I worked with Cheryl and she was awesome! I went there looking for two specific dresses and ended up hating them. Once she got an idea of what was best for my body type, she nailed it! SHE pulled the dress that I ended up buying! Fun experience!

I picked a dress first and then later went back and actually fell in love with a different one that happened to be a bit less expensive, so now I have a store credit there for $1860.

It's totally transferable, good for 10 years, and can be used on anything in the store. You'll be able to contact Kleinfelds and verify the credit and I work right near Kleinfelds so I can meet there anytime to do the transfer at the store.

I'm going to go to Lillettes..last time I went they were in Baldwin, but I think they're in Bellmore now. I've gotten three dresses from there for different weddings and they were great to work with!!
