Re: where to get good furniture?
Levitz is going out of business but BEWARE.....they are screwing over people BIG time and not sending furniture out of their warehouse, causing people to lose ALL of their money.
When the people contact Levitz they get, 'Sorry, but all we can issue is a store-credit', which coincidentally doesn't make it to people in a reasonable amount of time, and since they are going out of business they lose everything!
Ashley furniture on Glen Cove Road is really nice....also try Raymour and Flanigan on Glen Cove Road. We are starting the furniture-buying process too and are checking around.....take the opportunity to check out interest-free deals they have.

Re: where to get good furniture?
We just got bedroom furniture at Queens Blvs. a place called Simms (two stores to the left of Levitz). One word on furniture HAGGLE.... there was a huge difference is price between what they listed and what they accepted when offered. They are also VERY competative with one another. Good luck filling up that house with great new things!!!

if you can though, pick it up yourself...also i would just go on route 110 in farmingdale, there are TONS of places and you can get good deals. When i had moved into my apartment a few years ago, thats where we went for our kitchen, we had gutted it so we went there to get cabinets and everything and the place we went to, we were able to design what we wanted, the guy heard us out and drew our suggestions. It was a good deal too

I agree about bob's....great stuff for grea prices.
My suggestion would be to buy all furniture on holiday weekends. You get crazy discounts and when you consider how much furniture costs, it really makes a big deal to get 20% or however much off. FH and I bought our furniture little by little, always on holidays, and saved a ton. Do your shopping on Presidents day.
