My aunt (mom's sister), is married to a man none of us like. He is abusive (we've begged her for years to leave him), this past year things have escalated and words were exchanged between my uncle (mom's brother and him, and also with my brother and him). I want my Aunt to sit at the first table with my parents, and my uncle, but no-1 wants him there. I feel bad about putting them somewhere else. What would you do?

Re: where to seat an unwanted guest
I went to a wedding where the father of the groom has a new girlfriend (3 months after the mother passed). He was told you can not walk in with her at the church or the RH. Also, she is not to sit at the head table. This came from both the groom and the bride. He understood the walking in part but not the head table. So he sat with his new girlfriend at a table with randoms. He got the message.

Thats def tough. But it is her husband and she is family and ultimatly leaving him is something she has to do. So I think you really have to seat him with her. It is her husband.

to be honest, I know your family doesnt care for him BUT this is her husband and I think it would be rude to sit him elsewhere. Its her decision whether or not she wants to leave him. When she is ready she will.

If everyone hates him...I would just sit your Aunt at another table. Explain to her why you removed her from the head table. I think she should understand that you are just trying to keep the peace at your wedding. I wouldnt sit them separately...just find another appropriate place for them to sit.

Maybe I will stick him next to the speakers lol. This guy is such a piece of work. I wish he wouldn't come but he is such a control freak he doesn't let her go anywhere on her own.

Re: where to seat an unwanted guest
okay but in all seriousness, he is your aunts husband so he has to sit with her. if you want her at the first table because she is your aunt, unfortunately you cant seperate them, and have to have him sit there.

Do they have room for a table in the men's room? Tell him that you thought he'd be most comfortable in his element, lol.
