Where to shop for mother of the bride dress?

Hey everyone! Happy almost new year!! Exciting!!

Anyway, I was wondering if anyone has recommendations of where to shop for MOB dress. My mom and I went to SugarPlum yesterday and they had really nice stuff but it was really odd. The sales women would not show my mom any dresses. She tried on six different styles and told the woman which style she liked and if she could see more like it. The sales woman said no.... so now we are back to square one. :( (Although do you think we should go back and see if we get a different sales woman?? They had nice stuff....)

As all mothers, my mom wants to look fab and really wants a 'wow' dress. But, my dad put a limit on the price and it has to be under $1,000 but more like in the $500s.... but willing to spend a little more if its the right dress. We live in western suffolk but are willing to travel!!

Thanks everyone for the help!!

I think you could def find a fab dress for under 1000! That's a a decent price limit if I do say so myself. I would try Macy's, Estelles(they have a nice section in the back which I was surprised at) for in the 500 price range, David's Bridal, Nordstrom, Lord & Tayler, Bloomies, etc...maybe even try a bridal store. Thanks so much!! I mean my dad would actually love it if its under $500. :P I really don't know how much MOB dresses cost. I was just going by the knot.

My mom had a similar experience years ago at Sugar Plum and now she refuses to even go look even though my wedding is in 6 months and she hasnt found anything. She said the women there are rude and only bring out a certain number of dresses and if u dont like any of them then too bad....they're wierd!!!

Try Macys Bridal Salon and RK Bridal

En Toto and My Daughter's Wedding, both in Great Neck, have BEAUTIFUL dresses. Although, they are also kinda pricey...

500 is def the price range ... i know i was surprised at the nice selection Estelles had. I went with FMIL and they had some very nice non traditional MOB dresses. My mom went to David's and her dress was 160ish because I bought my dress there. They have some nice dresses as well. Def search online and see what style she likes. My mom and I went online before we did all of my shopping and what not and read reviews looked at people actually in the dress on the David's website as opposed to the models.
