I prefer bands but that is because I was raised in family that everyone played in a band.

Same here. Both grandfathers, father and brother are all musicians. Dad has played more weddings and anniversary parties, etc than I could ever fathom.

Support the arts, hire a live musician!!

I Vote DJ...

Which is really out of character for me because I am a huge live music fan. I love going to concerts, seeing bands at pubs, etc.

It was a really hard decision for me, but I chose to book a DJ because I want a packed dance floor at my wedding. I went to a few weddings with bands and honestly not many people dance. Even if the band is really good, I notice that most people sit and watch the band perform rather than getting up and dancing. JMO.

Also- since I was so torn over this...I made a compromise...I am having a DJ do my CT hHour and Wedding, but, at Dinner I am having a performer sing Sinatra (dont laugh--I LOVE SInatra) and My FH is having the NYPD bag pipes come and play...So I am gettin the best of both worlds for a lot les $$$ than a band.

I would have to say it doesn't matter if its band or DJ as long as they are good. I looked for someone classy who will get people dancing.

I enjoy DJ's if they are classy, I can't stand when an MC tells me how to dance, when to clap hands, etc.

definitely agree!!

band all the way for me, especially if they are a good band (like Hot Pursuit )
