Which cake do you like better? MAYBE NOW THIS WILL WORK!!

I found another cake I like and now I am confused!!!

The first cake would be without the silver balls and decorations and maybe instead some sugar or white chocolate flowers on the layers.

The first cake isn't posting well. The picture is coming out very small. There is detail and swirl on the cake. If you have a minute maybe clicking on this link will work..... It is the first cake - #130

The second cake would not have the green sugar flowers, but instead light blue hydrangeas.

Help!!!

TIA! First cake

Just to let you know, most places will charge you alot more for the hexagon. They wanted to charge me 300 extra for a square cake.

Thanks for the tip! I slowly learned that when I went pricing and it is funny cause I don't understand why it is sooo much more when they say they make a round cake and cut it to a hexagon.

Thanks again everyone! It looks like my first choice is by far the winner!!!

They cut a round into a hexagon? Doesn't that make the whole thing crumbly and difficult to ice? At least it does for me when I bake... But then again, I am not a wedding cake baker

Some places told me that is what they do. Others told me they have the hexagon shaped mold. I guess it depends?? But either way they put a thin layer of buttercream over the cake and then roll the fondant on top of it. So it is nice and smooth!!

Yay! Cake pics!! I love checking those out

I must say that # 2 is fantastic! Not only the shape but the detailing of the flowers down to the small dots. They are both amazing - but # 2 is my vote. There is just something about it - I haven't seen anything like it out there

Were you able to find someone to replicate it?

Thanks so much!! That is why I like it too. I like that is different!! I have found several places that can recreate it. It's just a matter of how much I want to pay to have it recreated?? We'll discuss that later on!!

You saw it on the knot? I wonder if it is still on there? I got this picture over a year ago from the NY Times online when they had a story about wedding cakes. I have been in love with it ever since. The company that made the cake in the Times was Perfect Endings in Napa, California so that is no help to us!!

I haven't officially decided on a bakery yet, but if you want I can send you a FM with all the pricing I received from everywhere (decent to crazy expensive) to help you out and then once I make a decision I can let you know!!
