Those of you who have picked your bridesmaid dresses... did you pick your dress first, and then choose a color you though it looked good in, or did you have a color in mind and then choose the dress based on that?

I picked the color first and then searched for the dresses - showed girls pics of the ones I thought would be good. Then my MOH came with me to pick out my dress and we also wound up picking out theirs...got the rest of the girls together to see what they thought and everyone liked so we ordered. It was kinda hard 'cause the one we picked the store only had the sample in a certain color but we knew we wanted claret . When the dresses came in I couldn't believe how beautiful they are! pics are in my album

i knew i was doing a red theme.. so i went with the girls to pick out a dress that was red!! it all worked out!!

I had the same concern, i actually picked the color first and then looked for the dress but either way it is hard b/c you may fall in love with a color and they may not make it in the style you want or vice verse. Good luck, go with color first.

Honestly I knew what color I wanted- I didn't know what shade of purple/lavender though until I was able to see it in person.
We ended up with going for dresses from David's Bridal because they were so affordable.

i knew i wanted green and it had to be a specific green and i showed it to the girls nad they said they rather have a blk dress with a green sash so i let it be. Doesn't bother me but i have tons of other things green to incorporate.

You wouldnt belive this if I told you. They picked their own dresses and then they picked the color. I couldn't care less as long as it was jewel-toned.

My bridesmaids picked their own dress too! we werent even looking for bridesmaid dresses (we were looking for my dress) but they tried on a few -- and liked Bill Levkoff 222, but LOVED style 555! It wasn't exactly what I had envisioned (i originally was thinking strapless) but it looked amazing on them and came in a color I liked (my avatar) so we went with it! hopefully it looks good when it comes :)

I picked the color 1st. I had alway envisioned them to be a slate blue and that what I got.

I knew the colors that I wanted, then dress was second. I only have to worry about my MOH, so I knew what would look best on her.
