Which day/night to hold a wedding?

Which day/night to hold a wedding?

Opinions please, there are no Saturday nights available in the year and season we would like to get married and we'd rather not wait until 2011.

we went w/ a saturday day. it saved us about 40 pp and you can continue to hang out w/ your guests at an afterparty @ a bar if you want..

Def not Sunday night- then people hold back from partying 'Oh I can't, I have work tomorrow...' We we're recently at an event Sun night - ducked out after the cutting of the cake. I think Fri nights are the best because you can usually get there whenever you want, which is nice. I also am not crazy about Sat afternoon, because I hate waking up early, and then when the party's over you're guests are drunk in the middle of the day, all dressed up, and no where to go! (or at least that's what happens every time I have to go to one!)

we did friday night. i´m always late to everything and the joke my whole life is that I would be late to my own wedding. also i know i might not be able to sleep much the night before. This way i can sleep in and get ready at a nice leisurly pace and still be on time. (hopefully!!)

I would totally have done a Saturday afternoon if we couldn't get the Sat night. Hosting an afterparty is always an option and you get to spend more time with your guests w/o them getting so tired and leaving.

We did Friday night, it rocked and I wouldn't have done it any other way looking back!

We always knew we wanted to get married on a friday night. It was cheaper than a sat and didnt want it on a sunday. something about a friday night wedding that says 'Grown and sexy' :)

i voted for a fri night so people dont have to wake up early. i feel like fri night is much more a party night then sat day or sun night.

I like Saturday afternoon myself -

No one has to worry about rushing/leaving early/etc.

I think it depends on the guest population: Usually if I have a wedding on a Sat night, I don't do much during the day anyways, so a day wedding on a Sat afternoon is not an inconvenience. That would be my personal preference. Friday night weddings are fine IF: you have mostly local guests, and if you're getting married at the hall (church wedidngs would start earlier and people would miss the ceremony b/c they'd still be at work). If you have an older or mellower crows, Sundays are fine. If you have lots of young friend who want to party away, then Sundays get tough!

We had a Saturday day wedding. It surprisingly wasn't much cheaper from the night price, but I personally prefer daytime weddings. Plus, lots of people still went out after the wedding since it was early.

Friday nights I have a hard time staying up, whether I've worked or not. And Sundays I don't like to have to do anything!

ETA: Don't think just because it's a day wedding that people won't have fun. It's a wedding! We had guests that were just as trashed as if it were an evening wedding

I think either Friday night or Sat day. I am doing a Friday night but I have been to a Friday night wedding and a sat day and both were awesome !

I'm doing Sunday evening 630-12 for several reasons. #1 being we have a decent amount of OOT guests and if we did Friday night they'd have to take 2 days off work, unless they wanted to fly in on Friday, rush around getting from airport to hotel, getting ready, rushing to reception hall, etc. Also FH's family has a superstition where you can't make important decisions or big business deals on Fridays because it's very bad luck lol. His family would give us too much grief if we chose to do it on a Friday. There was no way we'd meet the minimum # of people for a Saturday so Sunday it is!

IMO
I would like to attend a Sunday wedding over a Sat daytime wedding or Friday.

I like evening weddings, so I would probably pick the Sunday but it all depends on whats important to you and FH.

Before FH & I switched to a destination wedding we were booked for a Thursday evening.

I love evening weddings

The people that matter most will attend no matter where or what time it is....so dont stress about it. they will have ample time to prepare.

I'm doing a saturday during the day. No one has work the next day so people can party even after the reception!!

Re: Which day/night to hold a wedding?

Due to the pp price and lower guarantee number, we decided that we would need to either do a Saturday during the day or Sunday during the day. I worried about it being too early and people not wanting to party/dance during the day, but I think it will be fine. Friday would be really bad for us, b/c we have a lot of people (and ourselves) coming from OOT, and it would be really inconvenient. Also I personally just don't like the idea of having to either leave work early or be coming straight from work to a wedding. it seems stressful. Saturday night was just too expensive/too high a guarantee at the places I wanted, and Sunday night wasn't too expensive but it was still too high a guarantee, even though originally we were actually thinking about doing a sunday evening. hopefully saturday during the day will be good though!

I'm doing a saturday during the day because it was cheaper than a sat night and we are having an after party with all our friends and family. I can't wait!!
