Opinions please, there are no Saturday nights available in the year and season we would like to get married and we'd rather not wait until 2011.

Re: Which day/night to hold a wedding?
I am doing a Sunday twilight time like 4:30-11. Saturday nights in the summer, jewish weddings can't start before shabbat ends and it runs too late...

Re: Which day/night to hold a wedding?
Thanks everyone. I just kinda wanted to get a general consensus to make me feel more at ease with the decision. I noticed we wouldn't hit the minimum for some places on a Saturday evening either (if they were to become available). We are getting married at a church so Sunday day was pretty much out for us. I think we will go with Saturday daytime.

Re: Which day/night to hold a wedding?
i persoanlly dont like friday weddings just because I have to work during the day. especially at the end of the week iam dead tired. we chose a sunday night because at least people dont have to wake up too early because they dont have work, and on both our sides people still party even if they have to work the night before so i think its a personal choice, whichever you think is best for you and your family. i have never been to a saturday day wedding but im sure i would still party like its a night wedding, and would prefer it over a friday because again i wouldnt have to work.

We are jewish so Saturday day was out of the question....we chose a Sunday twillight (invite at 3, wedding over by 9) because we didn't like Sunday day or Sunday night! I've been to other Sunday twillights and we had no complaints and were still about to get up and to work in the morning!

We are having a smaller more intimate Saturday day wedding. I felt that since we were only inviting 86 people, a day wedding would be better.
I do really like Friday weddings as well, but I have never been able to make it to the church because of work and traffic.

Re: Which day/night to hold a wedding?
Well, Friday is something we never do in my family, nor would I personally choose to. I find it very hard for people to work all day, since many, unless they are your immediate family or friends, can't take the day off. Figure the typical job is over anywhere between 4-6. If the wedding starts at 7, you need to give people time to go home, shower, freshen up and get ready. Many people won't be able to take off to go to the church or ceremony, so you might not get many people at the ceremony itself. I am not even sure if Greek ceremonies take place on Friday, so I would have to double check, which I don't think so.
Our top choice was Saturday night but being that we are guaranteeing 250, with probably 275-300 coming, it was nearly impossible to afford it, since Saturday night is the most expensive and was running us about $200 a plate, which would have been just $60,000 on food itself. We wound up picking Sunday afternoon. The church is 3:00 and the cocktail is at 5:30 and the reception is 6:30 - 11:00. Even if people leave at 10:30 when the Viennese comes out, I don't think it will be too hard to wake up for work in the morning.
You have to pick what day is best for your pocket and for you and your FH! If cost is not an object and you can afford a Saturday wedding, and guarantee the amount of people necessary and the date is available, then go for Sat night. Saturday day is nice also, but my personal choice would be a Sunday afternoon.

I am going with friday night because it still allows your guests to have a weekend.

Go for a Friday night - you should also be able to save some $$$. Friday nights are usually cheaper than Saturdays and Sundays

Re: Which day/night to hold a wedding?
I would personally choose Friday night. Friday nights are the beginning of the weekend but some people might have to leave work early to get there (depending on what time you are having it). Saturday day would work also if you like the daytime - you can have an after party. Good Luck.

I'm probably doing a Saturday Day time wedding. Couldn't afford the evening receptions at the places I wanted; so i figured keeping it on a Saturday but just making it earlier is the next best thing!

Def not Sunday night- then people hold back from partying 'Oh I can't, I have work tomorrow...' We we're recently at an event Sun night - ducked out after the cutting of the cake. I think Fri nights are the best because you can usually get there whenever you want, which is nice. I also am not crazy about Sat afternoon, because I hate waking up early, and then when the party's over you're guests are drunk in the middle of the day, all dressed up, and no where to go! (or at least that's what happens every time I have to go to one!)
I agree 100%!

I'm doing a Friday night. Nobody will have to worry about work the next day and my FH and I can enjoy the weekend for our mini-honeymoon since I cannot take off much time at work!
