Ok, FH and I went upstate to look into hotels to book for our guests. We found two that we are interested in but the prices vary..here are the two options..if you were my guest which would you prefer? Remember, its only for one night.
1-Quality Inn & suite Rate about $104 a night 2 Double Beds, Smoking Max Occupancy: 4 persons/5 persons with extra bed, Smoking Room Free Wireless Internet Service Coffee Maker In Room Hair Dryer Iron and Ironing Board, microwave, fridge -The look of the actual hotel is much nicer on the outside.
2-Superlodge Rate: about $70 a night 2 double beds max occupany 4 persons -The look of this hotel is decent but not as nice as the other hotel
**Keep in mind** Both hotel workers gave me the same name and # of the manager to contact to make an appt. So im assuming both hotels are connected to one another somehow. Both hotels are next to the high way..in fact they are on opposites sides of the highway..
ETA: Please explain your choice

Quality Inn. I stayed in one in February and it was pretty good. The staff was helpful and friendly, room was clean etc.

I agree Quality Inn...it seems it is a bit pricer but you also get alot more amenities and i think these small touches will make your guests will feel more comfortable. Quality Inn is also a major chain hotel and its known around the country, it has a good reputation.

Hah! good point Alana. Well I went into the rooms of both hotels...and they both were clean..its the outside of the superlodge that doesnt look great. I mean, it looks clean..but its not super nice looking like the quality inn..but inside..they are both as nice. ONly difference is that the quality inn has a fridge, micro and coffee makers in each room but the super lodge doesnt have any..but I dont care about that too much because they are only staying one night.

go with the Quality Inn...I personally think thats the better pick. Plus the price you got for it is really good! Also look at it from a guest eyes...paying $$ for a hotel and then pull up to a place that isnt what they expect?! Maybe its just me...LOL

I would use quality inn. It offers more and is a bigger name that people will have faith in. If people need a cheaper hotel then they can do their own research.

FH says Quality Inn because of the ammenities, he said what if your suit or dress is wrinklrd and needs to be ironed? That's his reason and I guess I agree.

If you aren't going to be charged for blocked rooms that aren't used, I'd offer both suggestions. This way if guests really don't want to pay an extra $20, they can book at the Superlodge.

I totally agree with this! I blocked rooms at two hotels. One was a cheaper alternative and one was a bit pricier and i left it up to the guests to choose. I inluded the info. with the wedding invitations. I just DIY'ed a 4x6 card of info/rates and pictures of both hotels.

Re: Which hotel would you prefer?
I think the Quality Inn sounds like an overall better place. Plus, my feeling is, if I have to stay in a hotel for a wedding (in other words, not b/c I'm on vacation but b/c I have to) I'd rather stay in a better place. Since the price difference is so big, have you considered booking both places and letting your guests choose?

I chose the Quality Inn because it offers more amenities and you said that it looks nicer on the outside. I'd rather spend the extra $30! HTH!

Re: Which hotel would you prefer?
FH often has to check his work email so I would choose the one with internet access. Something to consider.
