2006bride: All of those places you listed are beautiful & unique. If you have narrowed it down to those choices, your best bet would be to visit them all and make your own decision afterwards.

I voted for NRC - I'm kind of biased though

Hey, are you getting married on a Saturday night? Do you mind letting me know what Westbury Manor quoted you? I am looking to do a saturday night in the spring or summer 2006 for around 150-175 people

Everyone of those halls you listed have gotten great feedback on these boards

There is no such thing as a 'best location' .. its all relative. What you might love about one hall, another bride might not.... its all a matter of personal preference and what exactly is most important to you in a hall.

Definitely take the time to visit each one of them and make lists of pros and cons for each .. that'll help you narrow it down further until you find the 'best' hall for YOU and your FH!

They are all beautiful and any of them will give you a top of the line wedding!

They are all wonderful locations. I love the Fox Hollow because of its intimate setting and gardens. Ultimately it comes down to what you like and what you're looking for.

You're gonna get a lot of biased answers . Personally, I've never been to any of them, but have you visited any of those places yet?

I have been to weddings at four of the six places you listed and I think Fox Hollow is the nicest!!

It really depends on your own opinion. You're going to just find a lot of people voting for their own hall which they liked for their own reasons. make some visits! it's fun!

Re: Which is the best wedding location?

I've been to three of the locations you listed: Westbury Manor, Foxhollow and North Ritz Club. Personally, I think all of them are wonderful. I've never been to a wedding at NRC but all of the posts are extremely complimentary - and when I visited the hall and spoke to a party manager there, I was very impressed.

NRC only does one affair at a time, which i think is a BIG plus. I'm getting married at WM and I wish they only did one affair at a time, but they don't - oh well. If you are using the really big room at FH then you feel as if you're the only wedding there - it's very private, with a separate entrance to the garden.

WM i think has the nicest grounds of the three places. I dont know if you're planning an outdoor coctail hour - but if you are, the flowers and fountains and amount of space you have (total property is 6 acres) is really great. FH and NRC also have lovely areas where you can be outside and take photos, etc. When I toured NRC you could see Jericho Turnpike from part of the grounds - but i saw it in the winter, so the foliage was bare.

I attended a wedding at FH a number of years ago and while I dont remember too much, I remember the dance floor being enormous - and this was a HUGE wedding and it made all the difference. No one felt cramped and crowded, either having dinner or dancing.

I would just tour all of them and see what your general feel is for each place. I'm sure you'll make a great choice!

I really loved Roslyn Claremont. One consideration, however, is the fact that they really don't have an outdoor area for picture taking and the ballroom is technically in a basement with no windows (but they do a nice job of hiding that with fake windows filled with mirrors).

It depends on your priorities...

I didn't like Fox Hollow, only because I wanted an outdoor ceremony, and I didn't want to hear cars zooming by ...I chose a place that had a more isolated area.

Westbury Manor is BEAUTIFUL...I'm all about teh gardens.

(again, the tree-hugger)

NRC all the way!!! I got married there two years ago and the place was GREAT!!! I loved being the only bride there, you don't want to share your day or your hall with anyone else!!!

Re: Which is the best wedding location?

Obviously I am biased towards Westbury Manor but since I just got married there I wanted to tell you the service was great and they went above and beyond my expecations. I picked WM for the feeling of old world charm - the flickering gas lamps, the gorgeous grounds, and the well known Scotto reputation of good food.

Our second choice would have been North Ritz Club.

I'm with Felicia on this. As you can see, everyone has an opinion as to the 'best' location. I could probably list another 10 locations that you don't have here. Make a list of the pros and cons for each place. List EVERY detail that means something to you and FH. We chose our place because it was the only place that had no cons at all. There were some places that had more pros but the cons outweighed the pros.
When you find 'your' place, you will just know. Almost like how you 'just knew' about FH!

I would say Westbury Manor out of those choices. I have been there before and it is very pretty on the inside..>Also the food is excellent. Have you looked into the Huntington Townhouse? Danielle and I just got married there 3 weeks ago and it was amazing....

Re: Which is the best wedding location?

Thank you all for your help. My mom and I are currently visiting all the places.

I just went to a wedding at Fox Hollow, so I don't need to go there again. I loved it, but need to explore all options.

We called Westbury Manor and they don't do Saturday night weddings unless it is 200+ people, so that is out!

My mom is going to see the Roslyn Claremont today. Does anyone know of a lovely garden in the Roslyn area that we could have the ceremony at?

It is so hard for me to go see all the places because I live and work in NYC, so my mom is my eyes and ears (god bless her)!!!

THANK YOU ALL!!!!
