I didnt send them because by the time I got through with all the thank you's for all the beautiful gift we were getting, it was almost Christmastime so I sent out holiday photo cards with Luke's pic on them. If he was born another time of year, I'd probably have sent announcements with pics.

I did them, but I did not use pictures - I just sent a blue card printed w/his vitals and it had a white little organza bow at the top center.
I'm happy I sent them...everyone loved them! I would definitely send again when I have another child.

I'm planning on send a printed card from cuscraft.com. Depending on when I send them, and if I have good baby pics by then, I will include a picture in the envelope. I was going to print the announcements myself, but we don't have a great printer, and by the time I figure out how to do it and spend the money on the card stock, it will be about the same. The ones that I picked out are $55 for 50 cards.

Edited to say, does anyone buy the blank ones and hand write them anymore? My mother did this for us.

Claud's were beautiful. I plan on sending birth annoucements out when my little one arrives, probably as apart of our Christmas cards in some way.

My handwritting stinks so I would never write out 50 cards myself. Plus printers are so cheap now, why bother.

Camille, send away for a free catalog from storkavenue.com -- my friend ordered hers from there and they had the picture (which I want to do also). She also told me that Babies R Us has some. Oh, and try babiesnbells.com.

I did. I just brought a picture to Costco and the printed up the pic and at the bottom was his statistics. I think it is a nice touch to send out birth announcements and would definately do it again.

Nina- not sure if Claud is still around but I am 90% sure she had them printed. They are Craines paper.

I plan on sending out some sort of announcement, maybe printing them myself. There is a great place on 110 in Farmingdale that sells invites etc that you can print and they are pretty inexpensive. $25 for 50 pack of decorative cardstock. They have a nice selection. I think it is called Quick Copy (by United Artist theatre)

I sent announcments with a picture (wallet size).

Claud-I dont know why I thought Paul was a June baby! Were you due in June ??? Hmmm I would have bet a million bucks that he was June 9th...
So his big day is next month !!
Big kisses !

Nina-

This is what was written on mine:

Thank Heaven For Little Boys

A star fell down from heaven
and landed in our arms…
With all of mommy's sweetness
and all of daddy's charms…

We are starstruck by the arrival of
John Anthony Harry
Born on October 9, 2002 @ 6:55pm
8pounds * 19 inches

Proud Mommy & Daddy:
Anna & John XXXXXX
******************************
and then another note had this on it:

'GOD LOVES LITTLE BOYS
God Loves Little Boys and all that they do,
Exploring and laughing and rough-housing too.
God loves their energy, eagerness, and wit
He loves their serious side and their fanciful spirit
He guides them and tends them while they grow
Giving them all of the grace he can bestow.
God's plan for his boys is wondrous as well,
Because soon in their place little men will dwell
******

I made it myself (found the phrases on baby websites) on light blue paper, and printed this on 2 separate little note-size papers, cut with the fancy scissors, and with a curled blue ribbon through the top. and a photo enclosed

Hey Claud,
I didn't know Paul was born on the 9th of May! That's my birthday too. I love the announcements you used--very classy.

Anna - No, I wasn't due in June! I was married in June 2001....if that rings any bells.
Paul was born exactly ONE minute before his EDD, which was May 10, 2002.

Happy 6 months to JA - Paul is 11 months today! Our boys are getting SO BIG, SO FAST!

Claud, it's so amazing that he was born 1 minute before his EDD!!

Anna, thanks for sharing your announcment. What you wrote on both cards is beautiful. If I have a boy, I hope you don't mind me stealing a few lines!
