Hey Stacymary, if you believe that people only throw weddings and showers to get a gift, then why are you having yours at Floral Terrace? Last time I checked, that's not a church or synagog! Don't be a hypocrite. If you don't believe in sending out birth announcements, then don't participate in this thread. That is your opinion. You are entitled to your opinion.
The reason people send out birth announcements, and I will be one of those people when I have my baby in September, is to let everyone close to them share in their joy. NOT to get a gift -- people who want to give, yes GIVE, a gift will do that with or without a formal announcement being mailed out!
As for sitting on the computer all day, you two (Mary and Monica) seem to be on it as well, so don't talk.
My parents always told me, if you have nothing nice to say, don't say it! Words to live by, don't ya think?

I can't belive the hostility here. First of all we are not excepting gifts at our vow renewal. Second of all I was expressing my opinion. I am not saying every single person who sends out that stuff is asking for money but......... I know tons of people who know that times may be tough for their friends yet they register for expensive ungodly things at super expensive stores. Whoever said I should be shunned omg... give me a break last time i checked this was a public message board and anyone can say what they want you pychcos! And for those of you who enjoy birth announcements that's just fantastic.

I think you need to look at what you wrote and then decide where the hostility is. There's nothing wrong with expressing your opinion, that's what we do here. BUT, stating your so-called opinion while bashing someone else is NOT acceptable here. By writing this:

you're calling the rest of us greedy.
So, yeah you can have your opinion, (which I don't agree with by the way), but even if this is public board, you can be sure that you won't be welcome if you're going to bash others actions.

Man I didn't know this would be a witch hunt first of all I wasn't bashing anyone directly I was commenting on the people who send me birth annoucemnts and when i call to wish them the best they tell me their kids clothing size after I purchase a shower gift. All i said was I don't send them because I'm not greedy, because I'm not. I never said that people who send them are greedy. So to whoever thought I called them directly greedy(which i didn't), get over yourself! It must make all of you stressed out soon to be brides so happy to have someone to scream at.

Hey Stacey, I feel I have to respond since I was the one who started this thread. First of all , do you have a condition with 'mood swings?' are you pregnant or very hormonal right now, because you are all over the page with your opinons on this topic and now just by reading the last few posts it looks like you took a 'victim stance' and are retreating what you said and how you said it.
The women on this board are very nice and helpful and I don't know who you are angry with , but please take your comments elsewhere...we get it, you don't care for 'Birth Annoucements' let's move on shall we?.
