Re: which one?
But IMO to be a teacher for the hours is not a good idea. Don't forget grading, planning, conferences, and the occasional crisis will occur after school hours. My FMIL is a cardiac nurse, and works three days a week but has 12-hour shifts. Might actually be easier to work a family around the kind of schedule.
The job market for elementary school teachers is highly competitive. People sub for years before getting a full-time position. For nurses, it's a wide open field.

thank you girls i cant decide i want to become an RN only thing making me second guess is the hours of a teacher when i have a family that wouldbe great
honestly this shouldn't be something others decide for you. Teaching and nursing are both careers that you should get into if its truly something you want. Teaching is a huge responsibility, you are there to mold young minds. Don't become a teacher just because of the hours, i think thats one of the many problems of our school system, you have teachers who just like the hours and summers off, they dont care or are not passionate about what they do and thats how you have kids who are behind the level they should be at or no interest in school. Why should the kid care if the teacher really doesn't.
For my kid i want a teacher who cares about her job, not counting the hours like my kid until school is over.
Nursing requires huge care and dedication, both careers do. This is another job you need to care about what you are doing. In many cases someones life is in your hands...do either of these things bc its a passion not bc it sounds better on paper

Re: which one?
Def a teacher, I can never be a teacher, I would hate to do lesson plans everyday, unless I am a kindergarten teacher, lol, but then again I would love to be a teacher bec of the 3 MONTHS OFF and alot of holidays off, my FH is a teacher and he loves it, an RN can be tough and difficult hours

Re: which one?
Two very different fields. I have worked in schools and hospitals my entire life. I would say teacher. Being an RN is very draining...physically and emotionally. I have alot of respect for RN's but not for me. I would leave the hospital so depressed. I need more of an upbeat fun career. JMO

Teaching so I dont have to work overnights, holidays, summers, snow days, etc. Teachers get off for everything!
I would go nurse...they make really good money...plus time and a half on a holiday(if you had to work it)...my mom is an RN and took off 3 months of paid vacation when my dad had back surgery and then another 2 months when my sister had her baby....she works 12 hr shifts...so its like on 3 off 4 on 4 off 3....I would like that better! lol
Teachers have too much stress coming from above for them to pass kids and get them good test scores....I dont know if I could handle it..
