Which one would you do.
How important is live music at the cocktail hour..
How important is live music at the cocktail hour..
i'm burning a cd of classics to play- i don't think it matters, everyone is so busy mingling and talking that they'll barely recognize the music.
We just used our DJ, and I thought the music was fine. I was at my CH for most of it.
True, also some halls have light music played during the cocktail hour, ask yours if they do, no need to spend extra. Nobody will notice what's playing as long as it's not annoyingly loud.
If you've got the cash, go for the piano player... that's really ncie and elegant. but honestly, i would be fine with the DJ muscic too.... no one really listens to the cocktail hour music...everyone is too busy talking and eating.
ours is playing light music through the speakers, I requested it.
pre-recorded music is fine. just DEFINITELY have something playing. i went to a wedding last month and the ch was very strange b/c there was no music playing at all. we were all commenting that they could have at least brought in a cd player and put in a jazz cd or something.
I don't think it is that important to have a piano player at the CH. Everyone is so busy meeting up with friends and chatting, that i don't think it is a big deal to have the prerecorded music.
For FH and I, live music is very important. We are having live music for ceremony, CH and reception. We are using Soul Revival and have been very happy with them so far. I do think that $300 is a little high for a single piano player, JMO. FM me if you want to know what I am paying for CH. However, if live music isn't as important than I'm sure your DJ will do a good job. Just make sure you are specific with what you want played and what you don't.
