Which would you choose? Photographers...

The choice is down to these two. Based on their portfolios, which would you choose? Follow the link to their portfolios...

Based on portfolios, I would say Downing Street. I can't really explain why exactly, except their pictures 'moved' me more.

Make sure you check with the BBB too.

Karen Wise hands down. After looking at both, the first one looks almost inexperienced in my opinion. The lighting is not great and it looks like it's 'trying' to be artsy. JMHO.

Which is why it's almost moot to ask us. Everyone is looking for something different. What's most important to you in booking a photographer? Maybe that will help you pick.

Did they have similar packages? I preferred Karen Wise's photos better. Who did you feel most comfortable with?

I really liked Karen Wise's portfolio. That is the exact style of photos that I would want for my wedding. A few photos in the other portfolio were blurry. That may have been for effect, but I don't care for that type of picture.

Everything was equal. Just contrast in style. Both exquisite in their own way. Gritty photojournalist vs stunning portraiture. Just looking to see if anyone sees anything I may not have picked up.

Karen hand develops her prints so they're cheaper. But Downing are two very artistic photographers that offer different styles. They're both the same price. Only for the time and proofs.

Karen shoots only medium format, her assistant shoots some 35mm. That's why her images are so sharp. Coke & Jared shoot medium format, but primarily 35mm. Lots of high speed shots - so very grainy, lots of contrast.

Oh yes I did!!! We loved her!! Her studio pics made me cry. I am so happy to have found exactly what we are looking for.

Quick ques. in the contract she said you will get up to 900 proofs (more if needed). What do you think that means?

I told her you referred me. I am so happy that you responded! And it was fate since our date is 7.3 also!!

I am so glad you liked her! Isn't her studio BEAUTIFUL? That's what made me fall in love with her! She didn't ahve her website when I booked her last year, so her studio was all I had to go on!
From what I understand, you get AT LEAST 900 proofs. I just know you get a TON because a friend of the family used her and said it took her forever to go through her 1000+ proofs!

She was so down to earth, everyone else we visited was pushey.

I would love her to make our albums also

I loved that they looked so different than the typical coffee table albums.

I also would love to buy some framed pics.

Are you having a 2nd photographer? We decided not to go with another one b/c she made us feel so confident with having her alone.

We were both so excited to book it, and we found a great tahi food place down the road. Turns out we live 10 min. from her.

We clicked with both of them equally. Maybe my FI clicked with Downing better since it's two guys.

I like them both but voted for Karen for two reasons:

1) In my opinion, women photographers capture 'something', totally intangible but visible on the pics. I read somewhere that a woman's heart beat is steadier than a man's, softer - since then I've become convinced that they shoot according to their heartbeat and thus produce pictures that are almost floating on a moment. It's also a proven fact that women make better 'shots' as in with guns...so there goes my theory on accuracy.

2) Karen's photos were rich with emotion - filled with 'the moment'. The other photos were nice, but they seemed to capture what was going on...I felt like Karen captured the people and made you want to see more of them...her main 'characters' were well represented.

And those are my .02 cents...hope I helped.

I Think that I would choose Downing Street. The pictures were beautiful, and nothing seemed posed.

I think you will like either one. They both have great pics, but I picked karen wise. She had some unique photos. So far your poll is at a 50/50 split!
