Pasta! It's much more substantial than the other choices.

I chose fruit......we chose it for ours as well.
The reason: There is sooooooo much food at the cocktail hour that we thought it would be a light course after the cocktail hour and before the pasta course and main course.

Re: Which would you rather have as an Appetizer?
For me personally, I'd go with the pasta....(well, we already did actually - we picked a penne Ap)
Soup is not a summer food, and though fruit would be good - do you know if your cocktail hour involves a fruit platter display of some sort? A lot of times they do, at my RH they do which is why if it were me I wouldn't double up with a fruit appetizer too.
But, if there is no fruit at CH, then that would be a nice touch for an appetizer.
So, for me it's a definite no for soup in the summer, but both pasta and fruit are good options.
That probably wasn't helpful at all.

I think I would go with the penne alfredo, or the fruit. One question though, is it outdoors or inside?
I think if it's a well air conditioned location, the hot foods question matters less.

I would probably choose the pasta, but I think the fruit would be good too. Especially since it's a summer wedding.

I like the idea of fruit - something light and fresh for a hot July day
I am a soup fiend, but for a wedding I'd go with a pasta.

Def the pasta. Are you having fruit at your cocktail hour (I have always seen it) Either way - I think Pasta is a better appetizer.

the fruit...we just picked out our menu and stuff last friday. They told me the more hot dishes you serve the less time your guests will have dancing. Just something to think about. HTH

I dont like fruit as an appetizer, fruit is also served at the CH and VH, too much fruit, hahaha. I love soup sooo much, I wish I can have soup at my wedd but I dont think they offer it, but its summer and people may complain about that too, so I would go with pasta, pasta is soooo good and everyone will enjoy it

i def wouldn't go with a heavy cream soup. while the pasta's are substaintial, i always love a good fruit plate. delicious and keep you from getting too full to fast.
