would any of you wear a white dress if you were a guest at a wedding?? i think its somethin you just DONT do but my friend just bought a white dress for her cousins wedding and i told her honestly i dont think u should wear white to a wedding and she got all pissy at me ....well its not white its ivory but close enough....what do you girls think

thank you ...she said it doesnt matter what guests where they cant control that...all that matters is that im there...im like wateva its not my wedding and i said the brides dont control it just out of respect people know NOT to wear white...i dont understand some people

Here is a site that tells you the do's and don'ts on what to wear when attending a wedding:
White is for the bride - I would never wear it to a wedding.
Does anyone watch the Office? Kelly wore white to Phyllis wedding and she looked more bride like then the bride. I think her reasoning for wearing white was because she looked good in it.

white is big NO NO in my book. i don't care what shade it is: white, ivory, pearl, diamond white, cream, off-white, etc. i would have been pisssed if someone wore white to my wedding, cause i think its a sign of disrespect to the bride. that is HER day to wear white, not anyone else's.
i'd show this thread to your friend and let her know 'White is RUDE to any wedding, and trust me, the bride may not say anything to your FACE that day, but trust me when i say she will be biitching about you to everyone else and all the guests will talk about the fact that you were RUDE in wearing white to someone else's wedding.'

If it was a dress with some white... thats one thing. But an all or mostly white / off white dress is not polite.
yes i feel the bride should be the only one wearing white. my FG isnt even wearing white. she is wearing a very pale yellow

I think the only time it is ok to wear a white dress to a wedding if you are not the bride is if they decide to have a black and white wedding and that is IT. I went to a wedding where a girl wore white and every girl at my table made a comment.

I would never wear white or a shade of white. Many brides wear Ivory too!!!! It's so wrong!
