Whitewater Rafting

Anyone ever go? How was it? Where did you go? Please post all info!

I've been rafting in Washington state (1 day), Montana/Wyoming (2 days), Costa Rica (2 days), and through the Grand Canyon (7 days). It is the most fun thing I have ever done. Definitely do not pass up the chance to go!!

its tons of fun - have gone in Alaska, New Zealand, Australia, and Oregen. Lots of fun - When looking for a trip look at what classification the rapids are usually for a first time 3 or 4 is a good classficiation 5 are fun but greater chance of flipping

We're looking at a few places in PA to go... It said II or III so I'm assuming that pretty safe, right?

II and III are extremely safe - in fact, if you're looking for a little more excitement, I agree that III and IV are the way to go for a first timer.

But either way, you will have a blast!!

ETA: I have no idea where in PA you want to go, but these guides do class III and IV on the Lower Yough.

I went in the Poconos on a calm water level - I believe it was on Labor Day weekend. I didn't have a great experience. It was a damp day. The water was very calm so it was just paddling down a creek or whatever and all the boats on the trip had water fights (since it was so calm) and I literally turned blue from the cold and sat there miserable the whole time. I would try it again, but in warmer weather only.

we went in the poconos and had an amazing time! we're thinking of trying something a little more adventerous next time (like class III or IV).

My dad, sister, and I went WWR in Maine- Dead river, Kennebeck, and Penobscott River. It was fabulous. This was about 10 years ago but my family had a blast!

Went to Canada when I was younger .. and we went on the Rouge River .. OMG .. that river was INSANE!! An absolute blast!!

A more tame trip was somewhere in the Maryland area .. maybe the Potomac .. very, very mild in comparison to the Rouge.

Both rivers were fun .. but very different in the level of intensity.
