who can officiate a wedding?

Does anyone know the rules for who can officiate a wedding in Suffolk county? We really want our friend to do this and know it's legal in NY state but need check with county...Suffolk County website provides nothing...

Any help much appreciated!

Helen @ ADA Studio she was our officant 631-929-8253. We loved her and she has the most reasonable prices out there.!!!

I did extensive research on this. After speaking to different town representative as well as other officiants I was told that Suffolk County does not recognize online ordained ministers so unless your friend actually went to seminary I wouldn't risk it. NYC does recognize online ministers though. However I was told you could have a friend do it and also hire a town officiant to be there and they could sign the license, etc. You could also go to town hall and get officially married before or after your ceremony that your friend does. We ended up using an officiant from the town of islip so that their was no confusion and we knew it was 100% legit.
