who carries a nice selection of satin ribbon - purple shades
I'm in need of about 150 yards of deep purple satin ribbon. I got a lot of samples from wrapwithus.com and a few out of state places but the color is not what I want. Any suggestions? I'm in downtown Brooklyn. Party City had the color I want but in that plastic ribbon for balloons.
Also, what's a good price for satin ribbon?
Thanks ladies

KDRainey--we have the same taste in everything!! I was lurking for a while before I started to talk to the other ladies. OMG, we want all the same things. Don't worry, I'm not a stalker or anything, I am just figuring out whose styles are like mine!!! I love purple.

Take a trip to the garment district. There are TONS of ribbon stores with HUGE selections....(Near Penn Station).
I just walked around and went in and out of places. I think I got the ribbon for my STD's at MJ Ribbon. It's on 6th ave in the 30's (maybe 35th?)

But did you have your car painted purple? Not my current car (FI won't let me) but I did have a purple car in high school and college.

No, I never had a purple car---but my dad tells me that his first car was spray painted purple (not his own choice but he really wanted a car).

Yup, this is the best place for the cheapest ribbon. I actually prefer the shops on Broadway (8th Avenue) and they goes on from 35th to almost 40. There are tons of fabric stores, stores for trims (ribbons, sequins, buttons) it's incredible. And haggle down the prices girl!
The shops in 6th Ave are good, but it's mostly where consumers go. To go where the designers go, the wholesalers, go into 8th Ave. It's good to walk the Avenues though (6th, 7th & 8th are all part of the Garment District). My mom's a seamstress so I 'grew' up going to all these little shops (I even went to Fashion High not too far in Chelsea). There are also shops in Chelsea (further down 6th Ave in the 20's).
Good luck and have fun!

Thanks ladies. That will be tomorrow's project. I spent the afternoon at Michael's & AC Moore and found the color I want (but neither had the size in stock that I want). I will try downtown BK & Manhattan (garment district).
Actually, I did find that AC Moore is cheaper than Michael's. I bought a votives (to test out the placecrad idea) and the AC Moore votives are .44 while Michael has votives for .69. The wicker baskets and ribbon were also cheaper at AC Moore.
