Who designed your Wedding Gown?

Sorry...I am a '09 bride crashing (is that what people say??) Today my mother and I went to Kleinfelds for the first time to look at wedding dresses....I wasn't thrilled over any of the dresses. Can you tell me what designer you used for your gown, good things/bad things, website, price range... etc

It would be a huge help! Thanks! :)

well kleinfelds is the largest bridal store and has more sample dresses in their store than any other store...They always have 1500-1600 dresses in the store. What designers did you look at.

The dress i bought and the other dresses i tried on weren't out on display. The racks they have out, they only have a few dresses. But i knew which designers i wanted to try on. They went in the back to get the dresses for me, plus i ended up going in the back later to look through all the dresses

the dress i bought from kleinfelds was by kenneth pool. I have my wedding pics in my album so obviously with the dress on lol.

Normally you tell them what style you like and what designers you want to look at. For example if theres a trunk show going on they will only have that designers dresses out on the racks. They brought the designers i wanted to check out and i also gave them the style number of particular dresses. I knew i wanted a kenneth pool dress, but also tried on reem acra.

what type of dress do you want? any designer you like?

Re: Who designed your Wedding Gown?

My gown is designed by Stephan Yearick. Thier website is junkie and they don't show very much but there is pics of my gown in my album if you want to peek . It was pretty pricey. I paid $4,650 for it but I also had a lot of custom changes done to it. Thats the good thing about the desinger, they will change anything you want. For instance, if you wanted to have a certian bodice of one dress and a skirt from another, they will make it for you. The gown is made custom to your measurements so they took like 15 different measurements from me. If you want more info of were I bought it, FM. Plus if you tell them you know me, they will probably give you 10% off

Re: Who designed your Wedding Gown?

I was completely open to any style dress...and it was my first time looking at dresses ( I guess I should have researched a little better before walking into Kleinfelds!) But I do know now what style I absolutely love - strapless, fitted at the top to right below my waist line, and then flared.

Just trying to get a feel for designers that seems to be popular, have a good rep, and at a decent price.

Thanks for your help! Marisa :)

did you tell them thats what youre looking for? i know it can be a bit overwhelming dress shopping. They have TONS of dresses like that, infact every dress i tried on was like that and the dress i wore for my wedding was strapless, fitted on top but then flared at the waistline.

go to kleinfelds site, they have a list of every designer they sell. Then go to the designers website to look at their dresses, its good bc they have like 100 designers or more so this way you can become familiar with alot of wedding dress designers

my favorite was kenneth pool
i also loved amsale and platinum priscilla of boston(which are associated with kenneth pool)

reem acra

eve of milady and amalia carrara

Romona Keveza

Rivini

Badgley mischka

Lazaro

monique lhuillier

anne barge

theres tons more but most of those will have what youre looking for. Do you want alot of beading or simple with very little beading? i can post some pics for you that i have saved from when i was looking

also on kleinfelds site, you can search for specific styles...first you pic the style whether a-line, ballgown, mermaid, then the top how you want it, and other details and also price

Re: Who designed your Wedding Gown?

My dress is by Melissa Sweet. I love so many of her gowns. Check out Priscilla of Boston in Mineola. They carry Melissa Sweet and Priscilla of Boston. I think my dress was like $4700.

It took me a very long time to find something. I went to sooo many places! Just make appointments for everywhere and have fun trying on dresses. I stressed myself out and didn't enjoy the process as much as I should have.

i agree...enjoy dress shopping and visit a bunch of places and try on diff dresses/designers...if u go to smaller stores they might have less designers but it might not be overwhelming...i endlessly looked at every designer's site to find styles i liked.

mine is more ruffley and romantic...and probably not what ure looking for but its marina by michelle roth.

Re: Who designed your Wedding Gown?

Mine is Romona Keveza, bought at Kleinfelds. You may have seen me on Say Yes to the Dress on TLC. Her dresses range in price. Very classic look, she is inspired by Jackie Kennedy!

My dress is an Eve of Milady and I got it in Kleinfeld's as well.

I always think its a good idea to go dress shopping with some pictures of what you think you like and then take it from there

Re: Who designed your Wedding Gown?

My dress is Paloma Blanca and I got it from a bridal salon that I would not recommend to anyone. If you want to know where NOT to go.. FM me. I'm not sure what the price range of their gowns are, but mine was $1800.

Re: Who designed your Wedding Gown?

melissa sweet has a lot of dresses that are simple and flare out at the bottom (like a mermaid/trumpet style) - i went to priscilla of boston to get my reception dress (its a melissa sweet) and they carried a few designers and i saw nice dresses - they carry kenneth pool as well - dresses in there were probably on average about 4K - some more some less...

my other wedding dress (my real dress) is a demetrios - demetrios dresses aren't that expensive i'd say 1-3K maybe?

Re: Who designed your Wedding Gown?

Mine is Stephen Yearick. I have never heard of him before my dress. I didn't do much research before I went dress shopping. I had an idea of what I wanted, and then once I got there I saw this dress and told the sales lady I wanted to try it on. I tried it on, and then decided that was the one. Funny thing, the dress I tried on was the complete opposite of what I wanted.

I saw go in the salon, and whatever catches your eye try on- you never know.
