I know I have to feed my DOC, photographer and the assistant since they will be with me all day. Do I also have to feed the band? They included something in the contract that said meals were optional. There are 5 people.
If I do feed them, do I not give them a tip? The vendor meals are half price, but that is still a nice chunk of change. Forgive me if I sound ignorant, I just don’t know how these things work. Thanks.

Feed and tip, yes.
And remember that they need seats too. Some catering halls have special tables for DJ, photog, etc, but you have to check. My sister-in-law didn't check with her hall and there were no seats for them to eat. She was supposed to add another table to her seating chart. She was so embarrassed and still talks about it 5 years later. Never seat them with guests!

I am feeding AND tipping my photographer, videographer, assistant, DOC and assistant and all 8 band members.
They are all going to be with you for hours....I want my vendors to perform at their best - not be hungry!!

Feed and tip. Most caterers give a discount though. Yes, get them a table. It doesn't have to be in the room.

I am feeding them but i don't think we tipping the band members or the photographers. Our photographer is the owner & we are already paying them alot of money. Also it says that tips are optional--they don't look for them. OUr band leader said that they would appreciate meals but not required.

There is nothing that says you HAVE to feed the vendors. It is however a very nice gesture. Look at it this way (with regard to the band) - who can't work for 4-5 hours without eating?? Your photographer, and videographer will be with you for close to 12 hours. They should absolutely be fed.
That said, I'm feeding all my vendors, and will make sure there is a table set up for them.
