Re: Who do I make the check out too??

Couples in the past have told me that they have trouble depositing checks that are made out to both of them (no joint account).

Make it to Cash or just one of their names (usually the guy since his name won't be changing).

I usually make it out to the bride in her maiden name- 9 times out of 10- bride doesnt change her name right away.

yeah, we had alot made out to Mr. & Mrs. and it was a bit of a pain to get them into DH's account. I would make it out to one of their names.

ME

or both w/ her maiden name. Chances are they have a joint acct. My bank didnt give me any problems and we got checks make ou to every combination.

hmmmm, I did the last wedding I went to to cash...

because I dont think they can cash the check as Mr & Mrs til a few weeks after the wedding...

or make it to one of them

Make it out to one of them, it doesn't matter which one....the bride can't change her name on her bank account until she gets the marriage certificate back in the mail anyway, which won't be until a couple of weeks after the wedding....most likely (hopefully) they don't take that long to deposit them. She can't change her name that fast so just make it out to whoever you're a guest of, the bride or the groom.

I always put cash because of that issue. Before the e-party..we didn't have a joint account, so people did it all different ways. I def think cash is the best way to go.

I have always made the check out to the new mr and mrs.

i know its a little different but for our e-party people just wrote checks to either FH or Me seperately and it was easy to deposit. while its cute to write their new name, the name change wont be in effect yet.

best bet? make it out to CASH

Im never really sure so I always try my best to give cash or just write it out to maiden name & his

I would be very nervous about writing it out to cash - I have been to so many weddings where a card is lost or stolen, and a check written out to cash cannot be recovered really. Anyone can cash it. I would write it out to both names but use the bride's maiden name, or just to the guy.

I would cjoose the bride or groom to make it easier on them to cash the check

EIther one of them but please do not write it out to cash or put cash in the envelope.

I have heard of envelopes walking away and then there is nothing you can do about it.

Re: Who do I make the check out too??

we had issues with our checks & here is what we were told:

1. Bride and groom, married name - both people have to sign it and you MIGHT have an issue, as the bride's name has not changed yet.

2. Bride's married name - unless it's HER bank - there can be a VERY big issue because of name.

3. Bride & groom, both MAIDEN names - both people have to sign it in order for it to be deposited.

What we do, since the wedding, is write the check out to the person that you know....if you know the bride...write it out to her in her maiden name... In the memo part - you can write something cute like, 'the new mrs. h!'...
