No engagement party here. I only have a little over a year engagement so I didn't want people to feel obligated to get me an extra gift. I feel if people are going to get a gift for an engagement, they are going to get one whether or not we had a party.

I won't be having one. There's really no one in my family to throw one for me, and my FH's parents are divorcing, so it's kind of tense.

Also, at times I have honestly felt like some e-parties were extortion parties. It does become a bit much with all that follows (shower, bachelorette party, wedding). JMHO.

we didn't. People who are close to us sent us things which was nice.

We didn't have an e-party either. My MOH keeps trying to talk me into it and she's hinted that my BMs might still do something for me and another one of my friends who recently got engaged. My frineds were complaining that they wanted to give me gifts so they wanted me to have one but I would rather save the extra money for the wedding.

We were set on not having one either, it was one of those things we didn't think too much about. My best friend being the best MOH that she is, threw us a surprise e party with the help of some of my BMs. It was the best, we had absolutely no clue, it was so much fun and it was a great way for everyone to get together and meet

Nope, not us. we didn't have one and we have been engaged and living together for a year and a half. i think folks are just happy we are getting married at this point!

Lol, Joro. We lived together prior to get engaged also. I just didnt want people sepnding more $$ on us. We did recieve some engagement gifts from family.

We didnt have one either. I didnt want to put my family throught the expense, plus we're not having a long engagement. My MOH offered to throw me one, but I declined. I loved her for the offer though

I didnt either. My mom does NOT believe in them. I think it is too much too.

I think a shower is plenty. Just my opinion.

I didn't have one either. But we did sent out engagement announcements just to share the excitement!

We didn't have one. We were engaged last Christmas and planned the wedding for the following November. I felt having two big parties in less than a year was a little too much for everyone. However, we did have a big rehearsal dinner with a dj and approx. 70 guests. We had a great time.

Same with me. I got engaged in November and then married in September, so we didn't want two big parties in one year. We also had a big rehearsal dinner - 50 people, so that was great!

Wow!!! I guess I am NOT in the minority. We did not have one either. I really had no desire to have one. We just had a small GTG with family.

We had an e-party about three months after we got engaged. But it was at the house outside, during the summer, and we just had salads and heros and stuff, so I didn't feel that it was extravagent. It was very casual and me and my FH both come from huge families so it was really the only way our families could meet each other. Oh and I don't want a bridal shower so I didn't feel too bad about people bringing us engagement presents.

I agree with Sonicstef that I don't understand why people have e-parties that are just like weddings. What do they have to look foward to? I guess to each his own...

Nope, no engagement party here!
