I'm wondering if 1pm would be not a great time to go to the Manhattan location to get our marriage license.
I'm taking a 1/2 day from work but have to be IN L.I. no later than 3:15pm, so we could go get our license before we head out to LI but only if it will take less than 1 hour total to get the license.
Anyone? TIA!

Re: Who got their marriage license in Manhattan?
My brother and his now wife did and it was not a long wait at all. I think they went in the morning though. We got ours in Queens the other day and it took 1 and 1/2 hours!! Then again, Manhattan is always more together than the outer boroughs!! Good luck!

Why not get in on Long Island then ? The girls post that they are usually in and out in under 30 minutes.
Mike and I are doing that when we vist the florist. The Town Clerk of Smithtown is just a few blocks away. I am avoiding Queens Borough Hall at all cost.

oooh! I want to do this too. I live within walking distance from the office in Queens, but I'm a city girl, and would love to go to City Hall for my license! I hope it's fast.

I thought of this, but the regulations are different in the city than in LI... I think you just need your driver's license and a money order for $35 in the city - think you need more ID or something in LI, no?
Does every town have their own Town Clerk? I'll be in Carle Place/Westbury.

This is exactly why I did it in Queens! I didn't have my birth certificate and my passport has not been sent to me yet. All we needed in Queens was our driver's license and a $35 money order.

Try the Town Clerk of Hempstead - I think that is the closest to Carle Place.
It is $40 on LI, and you need proof of age and proof of identity. They take cash, check of rmoney order.

yesenia, i was deciding to go to the manhattan , but i will have to take a extended lunch break, since you never know how long the wait will be. I also have a understanding boss who knows i am getting married, so he ok with it. i probably will be going next month to get the license.Since i work in the city , it not a problem.

I work in the city too, but in midtown so getting down there will take me a bit.
I was thinking to leave work at 12pm... 30 minutes to get there 1 hour there 45 minutes to get from there to Queens to pickup car 1 hour to get from Queens to LI (if there's traffic) Total travel 3 hours 15 minutes... arrive by 3:15pm.
of course, things never work out like you plan! So who knows.
