Who had this test done?

Who had this test done?

Who has had the AFP test? My doctor told me that if I want to take the test, I need to do it next week. Just wanted to know what your feeling are about this test.

I refused the test for my own reasonings-I just felt it had too high of a chance of false positives and I didn't want to have an amnio done nest or to be worried for no reason.

I had it done because if it came back abnormal we wanted to prepare ourselves for what that might mean when the baby is born. We now feel much more at ease because it came back fine and that makes us feel more comfortable.

I had it done with my first pregnancy, but will not be having it with this one.

Not pregnant yet but I am pretty positive that both FH and I would want to have this test done.
If something is wrong we want to know what is in store for us and the baby.
It is a very personal decision that you and DH have to make together because their are a lot of false positives and I believe that the tests after a positive to determine if it is accurate or not are a bit more risky.

I had it done but after much deliberation. I know that there are alot of false positives but I was willing to deal with the result no matter what it was.

I had it done - and I had a false postitve - I would never recommend having it unless you are over 35. I was 26 at the time and it scared the heck out of me, I had to go through the rest of my pregnancy thinking something might be wrong with my baby. I could have had an amnio but the risks outweighed the positives.
My son was born healthy!!

I had it done and it came back negative. With this one I will probably have it done again. If there is something abnormal (false P or not) I would like to know because it may be something that can be correction in utero

ALPHA FETAL PROTEIN - it tests from down syndrom and other abnormalities

my dr. recommended it be done
sometimes if they find something they can treat/prevent it

everything came back normal but I did do it

Thanks for all of your responses. I like to see what other people think about this test. My husband and I have decided to go ahead with the test. Thanks for all the advise.
