How difficult in comparison to the Undergrad degree would you say the work is for completing a Masters. I excelled with my B.S but I a little scared. I was going for my 2nd B.S but my advisor said that my grades are more along the Graduate studies path and I would be wasting my time getting a 2nd B.S.

Re: Who has a Masters?
I agree I thought my Master program was easier then my Bachelors. There were certain classes that you have to take (like economics) that I really struggled through, but since your Masters is in the direction in life you are choosing I found it much more interesting!

I just finished my MBA in Finance from Fordham and I thought it was much easier than undergrad.

I agree. No stupid elective classes to take, it's all in an area of interest for you. It's definitely intense, but if you love the topic it's naturally easier.
I think I'm headed back for my 2nd masters in the Spring. I have my first one in Industrial Organizational Psychology but I'm looking to make a career change and go into teaching. (Like so many others on the boards!!)

Re: Who has a Masters?
It really depends on what you're going for and if it's in the same area as your BS, and what school you're going to or what sort of teacher you have.
And it also depends on your situation.
I got my BS in history and elem. education at a school that I lived at. It wasn't hard but it wasn't easy either. I got my masters in Library and Information Science at Queens College. I had teachers that taught right from the book and that was hard at times because you really had to know the book to pass, and other classes were very easy (or fun, actually) because they were hands on (like a class I took in marketing/merchandising for libraries and a class in HTML basics).
Plus I was 4 years older, and I was paying my own way this time around, which made alot of difference.
Good luck! Mary

Re: Who has a Masters?
Thank you ladies for your responses. My family..especially my DH has such faith in me and sometimes the thought of Grad work just brings on my biggest fear. Imagine that. I am not scared of a M16 but scared of a book. TY

Re: Who has a Masters?
I found the work my masters to be easier than the work for my BS. I think part of that had to do with the fact that I was focusing on a subject that I love.

Re: Who has a Masters?
I got my masters in Special Ed. last year and it was soooooooo much easier than my undergrad.. I was taking classes that I was interested in and took 2 classes(while teaching full time) a semester.. The class work I also felt was less... Good luck!

Re: Who has a Masters?
I have my MBA and I don't think it was that much more work. I went full-time for 18 months straight.
ETS: I also had a mix of part-time and full-time internships after my first semester.

Re: Who has a Masters?
I just got my MBA in June and I'll say the experience is so much different from undergrad. I enjoyed learning so much more. I also worked full-time.
It was cool to be able to apply concepts from lectures, case studies or class discussions to real work situations. Many times in undergrad, I felt like I just memorized a bunch of stuff.

Re: Who has a Masters?
I found that the work was easier than undergrad stuff, but more time consuming. Many long papers but barely any tests!

Re: Who has a Masters?
My MSW was a easy easy easy compared to undergrad! I also say that law school was slightly easier than undergrad.
What was so difficult about my undergrad was a strict following of the curve...curving down!!!
So they would only allow one A, a few Bs and mostly Cs (there was also NO PLUS MINUS SYSTEM). So say I technically got a 95 on a test, a classmate got a 97...I would get a letter grade of a B, meaning a 3.0, and that person who got the 97 would get the A, a 4.0
It was the toughest four years of my life (academic wise), but the BEST years in terms of fun with my friends.

Re: Who has a Masters?
My masters took me 3 years full time to complete- it was 52 credits. (AND A THESIS!) The work was even more fast paced then undergrad, and there was a lot of competition . I got good grades. After all of that schooling- I have not gotten a job in my field. There is nothing open that pays decent for me to live on.

Re: Who has a Masters?
I have both my Bachelors and Masters in chemical engineering. I would have to say my Masters was by far easier because it was more concentrated on the subject field. Plus I did it full time in one year, so it was more interesting to me.

Re: Who has a Masters?
My Masters was a lot easier than my undergard. work. My undergrad was in Speech Pathology and Audiology, and my Masters is in Special Education. It was a lot of work, but stuff I alwaredy knew.
