I told my FI I was going to make menus for the reception he looked at me like I was crazy, said that is what the waiters are for to go around and tell people and we went back and forth about menus. He doesn't want me to block hotel rooms for OOT guests, hmm could that be because most of them are my family that he could care less if they make it or not since all his family is in NY/NJ? Anyone else have this problem, if so how did you handle it?

My FI is so stubborn he refuses to talk about planning the wedding. Kind of like we have all the time in the world to make plans. I'm pretty much doing all of the planning with family and he's clueless, just wants to know when to show up. Not how I imagined it would be but, I don't want to be stuck if I wait around for him to make a decision. I know you want him to take an active role but my suggestion would be to do what you want. Maybe if he hears your ideas from someone else he'd consider them?

My fi can tend to be stubborn, but he usually wants me to look after everyone

Certain aspects of wedding planning don't interest guys and they won't respond well to them. They just don't get it. You are better off censoring him from some things. My FH reacted the same way to blocking off the rooms. He insisted it wasn't something we needed to do. Sure enough, I call his parents and sisters who all live in North Carolina and they all say of course we want rooms!!
Menus, programs, tossing stuff, flowers, CPs, all the little 'girly' touches, guys want nothing to do with, or just plain don't understand. Save yourself some frustration and don't involve him in those types of things unless he asks.
Give him 'manly' stuff to do like limos, HM planning, etc. I know how you feel though and I think most brides on here can empathize with you so vent away!

My FI seems stubborn or 'uninterested' on the surface, but I notice once I have an idea, he is great about helping out and sharing his opinion.
Having him do things like Limos and HM are better than flowers and dresses. JMO

So funny! FH refuses to agree with me making menu's...said the exact same thing, thats what the waiters are for!
