I am going to the DMV to register my truck for the first time in NY, do I need FH there with me since his name is on the lease?

Re: Who has a vehicle in both your names?
how are you insuring it? If it the insurance is under your name only, then you need to register it in your name. If the policy is in both your names then you should be able to register it in just yours.

Re: Who has a vehicle in both your names?
I was just looking at the insurance card and it only has my name on it so I think I may just register in my name.

You will need to insure the car in NY first before registering it here.

No problem... good luck.
I bought my truck in CA (I lived there for a little over a year) and when I came back to register it in NY I got the run around about 3 times. I don't even think they know what they are doing.

I got my truck in CA also. I am reading something about having a letter to be able to register it in NY do you know anything about that?

If the truck is still on a lease, yes you do.

yes it's a pain when it's on a lease... But when you call the lease holder ask them what else you will need. I think because both CA and NY offer registration services when you buy/lease a vehicle that this letter thing could be avoided... not sure though.
